This is the best description of how bounce and wedges in general operate. Brilliant! Well done Jay.

I love the breakdown of how to use the bounce and different grinds. I think normal golfers would benefit a lot from thinking about how they like to chip and matching their wedges to what they buy.
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
Golfers with a lesser skill level would benefit massively from a few short game lessons and keeping things as simple as possible. Staying away from fancy flop techniques and using simple methods to reduce the short game waste that affects so many golfers scorecards 👍

Hi Jay, great review and a fair point made about the around green testing, yet a lot of people enjoy the visual aspect of testing reviews. Mizuno have nailed the colour choices, although a lot of people still don't understand that it's only a coating and does scratch up and wear off pretty quickly (depending on use). Great work as always and I hope your knee continues to heal up.? Kind regards Olly.

Wedges and Putter reviews can be very similar in the fact that the performance you see on screen has absolutely got everything to do with the reviewers skill level rather than anything to do with the wedges themselves. Also it's very difficult to get through all the information to do with the grinds etc and who they are for when the reviewers are spending most of their time showing off to camera 😊😊

Nice one Jay, been thinking of updating my MP R series 52/58. They have to be 15 years old now. I think either these or the Ping S159’s. The S159’s would flow into my blueprint S quite well but that would mean not having anything Mizuno in the bag for the 1st in forever!!!😮

These look amazing. I want all of the wedges. All of them. Oh, and I LOVE the toe -down chip. We're all Bermuda grass here in the southern US and I use it 90% of the time - 100% in the winter. It's so easy. I don't know why everyone isn't doing it on every shot around the green. I actually play the face fairly straight unless I need to get over something. Ball pops up out of literally ANY lie at the same angle every time, rolls out the same every time. It feels like cheating.
@AskGolfNut23 сағат бұрын
It's all about technique and when you know and and can use it, it does sometimes feel like cheating when the handicap golfer looks at you like he can't work out why he hasn't done that before now 😊😊😊👍

Hey Jay great video. I think the T1 P grind is going to be more comparable to the Vokey D grind, much like the M grinds are similar (minus 2° bounce difference on the Ms)

My S18 wedges could do with replacement, they have been really good. T1 could be the ideal replacement. What would the best grind for bunker play - C?
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
That very much depends on how you use the sole of the Wedges with your individual swing. This question during your fitting absolutely is the type that the fitter will want to be hearing the answer to to allow for the right choice to be made 👍👍

So Mizuno is now getting away from alternating the releases of their two lines of wedges and releasing both at the same time? Is the T3 and update/extension of the S23? I replaced my T20’s with the S23’s when they came out and really like them. How do the T3’s and the S23’s compare/contrast?

Which wedge style would fit best with the original HMB’s Jay? T3? Thanks
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
The original MP20 HMB were the longest of the recent hollow body blade lengths but not too massive at all. Similar to the modern day JPX925 Forged iron so in reality you are quite fortunate as you could easily look to blend with either depending on your likes and needs between both the T1 and T3 Wedges 👍
@davidfermor6323Күн бұрын
Currently using the S23 wedges and MP245 irons. My weakness (technique) is around the greens, would you recommend a T1 or T3 or will there be an S25 coming? Also thanks for the grind explanation, I can’t get enough of those.
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
The S23 would translate better into the T3 it's slightly larger than the T1 also the CG will be further away from the hozel given the slightly longer blade length 👍

My vokey wedges are the worst I've ever used. The overly aggressive bounce forces you to play the wedge square or play a wedge with very low bounce
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
The Mizuno wedges seem to want to blend their previous fairly low bounce/grind option towards the Vokey to try and capture every golfers needs from either high bounce or low bounce and with the grinds it will allow the face to be manipulated whilst not compromising the leading edge 👍
@Golfing-AddiCt11 сағат бұрын
Did you not assess the degree of bounce on each wedge when you went through the ordering process?? It's an incredibly important part of the ordering process as much so as the sole profile.!
@ianmcgaughey15 сағат бұрын
@@Golfing-AddiCt one, I went to a fitter and tested them indoors, which was a mistake. Two, Vokeys didn't offer anything similar to what I had, 56.12 and 60.07, so I went with the fitters suggestion, which was supposed to be similar. My next wedge fitting will be done outdoors on a short game practice area at Standard club in Atlanta where they shoot the Mizuno launch videos.

I game the Pro 245’s which wedge would you say would best fit between the 2? I typically game a 54 and 58
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
T1 would suit best, the 245s are quite sleek in their blade lengths so would blend best with T1 👍

So, the pros with more aggressive grinds is that you can play a variety of shots. The con would be more aggressive grinds might dig more with less skilled golfers?
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
Absolutely, they are now covering all the ability levels with all the grinds. Unless someone has a very good short game I'd generally steer clear away from grinds with large amounts of toe and heel relief 👍

Question - Are these all centre weighed, as S23? My understanding was that was an explicit differentiator on the S23 vs T22. I never played the T24, so haven't got a comparison there. Sad they haven't reflected "copper underlay" with a denim copper model. Still my favourite finish. And the bit no-one is mentioning in current reviews - The have both moved the number to the toe, and it looks like there is a marginal change to the font, so "50" looks a little less like "60". But why has the Chrome one not got the white paint on the loft part of the number? I play 50/55/60 and I've pulled the wrong one 50/60 several times, and really wanted the numbers to stand out in the new model. The back stamp was what I liked least about the S23, so that is some improvement, but it's still not as clear as it should be on the standard one.
@AskGolfNut4 сағат бұрын
The T3 has a more centred CG as did the S23. The S23 did it a slightly different way by having a similar blade size to that of the T but moving mass out of the heel and into the toe. The T3 does it via a longer blade length and more aggressive perimeter weighting 👍
@davead6578Күн бұрын
How come the T1 60X wedge has a 60L loft/grind notation on the toe? Is Mizuno adopting the Vokey L grind notation?
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
No it's a graphic mistake, I used the graphics from the technical presentation to media partners and it seems it was lacking a little mistake and typo checking before they released it 😁 that's why I adjusted the graphic myself to show in larger letters the correct Grind Letter 👍👍

Ooh…these are very sexy indeed….I prefer smaller headed clubs so the T1 would be a good option for me. I used Clevelands forever and love them, but not as enamored by the RTX line as I was with the 588s…tried this last go around to go with the Vokey and don’t like them at all…My only hitch is I’ll likely try to fit into the JPX Forged when they come out. Seem to be a good blend of not too big, but some nice help…I’m 55 now and had both hips replaced, shoulder surgery, back issues (lifetime of ice hockey), so I need a little help in the speed/height department, but don’t have issues with strike…I’ve tried some of the bigger irons and can’t hit them. (JPX 923 HMP and HL)…
@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
The JPX925 Forged irons aren't massive especially compared to something like the Hot Metal or Hot Metal HL so the Forged can easily be blended with the slightly larger T3 or slightly smaller T1. The Forged Irons are a perfect piggy in the middle size wise to have every option 👍

@AskGolfNutКүн бұрын
T3 will take over the S23, the T3 is a larger longer blade length that will pull the CG away from the heel or at least it will pull it more towards the toe when compared to the T1 👍 where the CG actually is precisely, no technical information I have at least shows that 👍

Due to the cost in producing them. Honestly I'm amazed they made all of the Wedges T1 and T3 and also all the Bounces and Grinds available in Left Handed. It makes absolutely no financial sense to do this due to amount of left handed sales. But kudos to them for doing so, on balance not having all the finishes may well be a small negative of a much bigger positive 👍
