People need to acknowledge that with most anime fights match-ups matter. Askin has a crazy scrift, one that took out Shikai Ichigo. To beat him you need crazy hax such as Urahara's bankai. So saying a character is merely stronger does not tell the full story and ignores all other factors.

We never got to see his Bankai (in canon), he spent most of his life sick, the most impressive feat he did caused him to die plus his sacrifice was rendered meaningless when it indirectly made the final villain (Yhwach) stronger. Wasn't lucky. If Urahara didn't have Grimmjow or Nel around, then he wouldn't fought the way he did in the first place. Nel said that he came down to one of the possibilities urahara mentioned. Meaning he told her how the fight was going to end up. He planned for that outcome. It's like saying Askin was lucky yhwach gave him that shrift because without it he wouldn't be anything.

Or "if Gin really wanted to kill Ichigo, he could have." Or "if they weren't using Swords Chad would beat all of them in a boxing match." Or "batman cant beat superman if he cant use his greatest feat, his intelligence, to make a strategy against him". But what allowed Urahara to win, is called intelligence, not luck. Askin realized how absurd Uraharas feats are before he died. He said it was unreal. Coming from someone with that much power given to him, that is saying something.

And it's ridiculous to say Askin would win against Toshiro. Toshiro in matured state can freeze Askin in 4 seconds and stop his ability. It's stated in the manga he can even freeze function, that means his death dealing won't do anything, and his immunity won't matter. Askin is also weak against hands going through his chest. Already, Unohana is totally overrated. She got slaughtered by kenpachi without a shikai. Yet characters like pernida or Gerard Valkyrie in the first form of his volstanding extinguished kenpachi with his shikai knowing that Toshiro was able to compete with Gerard Valkyrie's second form (I'm talking about Gerard Valkyrie's form above the one that massacred kenpachi shikai then was beaten by kenpachi bankai). So Toshiro yes he can hope to beat Askin but we get: Gerard Valkyrie volstanding 2nd form=Kenpachi bankai>(High diff)Toshiro Adult form>Pernida base form(who beat kenpachi in shikai)=Askin base form(who was able to take Ichigoat by surprise)>Kenpachi shikai>>>>>Kenpachi based form>Unohana. And Byakuya is terribly underrated because he was practically the same level as Kenpachi at the beginning of the Tybw arc who was already mid level captain except that after his unfair loss to As Nodt he will train in the royal palace and receive a monstrous power-up just like Rukia and Renji who went from weak captain level to powerful captain level. Thus, Byakuya has therefore become a powerful captain capable of competing with Kenpachi in shikai in my opinion because he too was washed by Gérard Valkyrie.
