I was supervisor/‘managing’ the grocery, chilled and frozen departments on and off. I worked on the checkout, fetched shopping carts, stocked shelves and served customers. This was from around 1989 plus. I’ve also done a few years in charity shops when I was at university. I am EXCELLENTin customer service. I’ve worked in phone support, customer service, tech support, IT consultant, etc. I have an eBay store with 100% satisfaction, too. My point - this girl’s customer service is what I’d call Sterling. Her body language and interpersonal skills are right up there. Now as a very very very experienced shop floor guy, I know how I was trained and how I did the job. I’d treat customers like I want to be treated. Nowadays, there is hardly any expectation in any line of business. You call a courier about a shipping label and talk to a robot. Same on their app. In stores, I see staff gossiping in clusters. Their speed of work is crap. Their product knowledge is weak. You ask where something is and they just walk that way before even saying “hi, yes. Cranberry sauce(?). If you’d like to follow me this way.” It’s like they can’t fathom that they should LOOK AT you. Notice she keeps up rapport and turns to face her customer. She also has a skill at finding cues to get away. Ohhh, by the way…I have a social psychology degree, too. So I’ve looked into all of these things. I’ve done a lot of work like field engineer, training non-tech people, etc. I really see you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.
