MOVING ON // LYRICS
A boy of anguish, now he's a man of soul
Traded in his misery for the lonely life of the road
The years were cruel to him
No, he won't let them go
Lays awake tryna' find the man inside to pack his bags and escape this world
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't wanna do this anymore, I'm moving on
He wanted to change the world, to make it all worthwhile
So he put his pen to paper and poured out everything inside
His red eyes tearing up at the man that he'd became
Slowly, but surely on the fast track to falling into his grave
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't wanna do this anymore, I'm moving on
I can't believe I've come so far in such short time
And I'm still fighting on my own
If I stop to catch my breath up I might never breathe again, so just know this:
I've never been so torn up in all of my life, I can't believe I let myself break down
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
I don't wanna do this anymore
I've never been so torn up in all of my life
I should have seen this coming
I've never felt so hopeless than I do tonight
No, I don't wanna do this anymore, I'm moving on
A boy of anguish now, he's a man of soul
Traded in his misery for the lonely life of the road

I love how metal bands slow down like this once in awhile to show the world they aren't just a bunch of noise. it helps bring a bigger fan base. smart move

Well I agree, but when you start doing it constantly, you become a pop group...

@@Mi_Ke27 Yeah but c'mon. It's not fair to expect the 'heavier' rock singers to continue 'screaming' to the point they're voices are destroyed. This type of song for example will never be 'pop' imo. Also not saying you're the kind of person who expects them to carry on no matter what :)

so true, theres a thousand examples so no point listing a load but its one of my fav things when bands do this. most dont realise just how good the guys and girls of rock voices actually are, far better than the processed crap of pop who cant sing live. i mean the outright quality of the vocal from david draiman in the sound of silence live, Amy Lee live or Tommy Vext live, they smash it and its not forced, just natural ability with amazing range. metal ballads are the best!

This is one of my favorite songs by Asking. My son introduced me to the band before the release of this album. A year later, we would promote Asking and get to see them live. Damn good show, from start to finish. My son, my best friend, lost his life on October 12, 2023, just four days before his 30th birthday, October 16, 2023. I listen to this song, and it helps, but it hurts so much, knowing that I will no longer be able to share important moments in life with the one person I have shared so much with over the last 30 years. To everyone. Let those in your life know how much they mean to you.

Sad lines. My condolences. It might also be good to use this song to mourn. I have that too, but I rarely listen to that particular song anymore. The pain is now easier to bear. I lost my husband in April 2022. He was just under 57 years old. Greetings from Germany and continued strength in dealing with your grief.

It's all fun and games...until it's not fun anymore.....I admire Danny's transformation and honesty through his interviews and lyrics. Never caved because of what some few people bitched about online. He seems so healthy and like he is finally himself. The fact he makes ANY music after what he's been through is great and it's a bonus that it is still amazing 11 years later. Dennis was a "different" phase, but Danny and AA go together like peanut butter and jam. Long live AA.

@@JerKur18 I’m not sure if you are into Blackened death core (not sure if Lorna is that but that’s as close as I’d think they are) but Lorna Shore has become one of my favorite bands, they have a new album coming out in a month. But their latest song is called Pain Remains I: Dancing Like Flames, it’s so good. I’m a huge black metal and deathcore fan and I’m in love with them!

Boy this is one of those songs that hits home with me on every line. Identity crisis growing up, friends dying or moving away, family betraying me and leaving me for dead, and after being revived from flatlining after a suicide attempt; waking up in that hospital and stepping outside the doors, seeing no one at my side and no future for me there... I left with nothing but my scars and an open road. And so I moved on... Ended up in another province starting over completely from scratch. Embracing a new family of close friends I've become very attached to here.

I've never been so torn up in all of my life, I should of seen this coming. I've never felt so hopeless, Than I do tonight. I don't wanna do this anymore I've never been so torn up in all of my life, I should of seen this coming. I've never felt so hopeless, Than I do tonight. I remember when this song was released, I used to listen to this 24/7. I had a crush on a girl I clearly had no chance at, imagine the most beautiful, the sweetest girl in existence. Now, she's 2x that. Since I've became a music producer, I started to get a lot of attention in my city. We weren't talking for the last 8 years, 2 weeks ago she texted me about a music video we released, it was a sad song about a breakup. How ironic lol. We started talking again, she gave me a LOT of hope. I thought this is it, i said let's go champ, work until you get your childhood crush to have a crush on you. It was all lies. I left her place 2 days ago, the same day same night she's sending a picture of another dude laying on his laps, saying it's over. I'm not suicidal, I just kind of feel lost, this song just reminds me of how strong I was when she was ignoring me back then. I don't know, i just kind of wanted to sort of type it out, it feels great to let it all out you know. Keep your head up champ, don't be so naive. Love to you all!

Asking Alexandria grows up as we grow up. When you get older, you start having a more mature music taste. Not to discredit Stand Up and Scream, but from a production and musician standpoint, From Death To Destiny is MILES ahead of anything they've done so far. They mature more and more on every album. Its cool to not like it, everybody has their opinions and individual tastes in music. I get that. Stand Up and Scream is still a sick album. A Prophecy is probably my favorite song of all time. But you can't flat out say that this sucks and is "selling out" or whatever y'all want to call it. Its an evolvement. Every band evolves. And honestly if you think about it, what album do Asking Alexandria fans get their identity from: Stand Up and Scream. Thats what the world thinks Asking Alexandria fans are all about: open note chugging, 3 breakdowns a song, and no real structure or melody. "Moving On" and almost every song on From Death To Destiny is a great move away from that (without completely changing their identity), and as Asking Alexandria fans, y'all should embrace that. A comparison would be Avenged Sevenfold. Their first 2 albums are pretty metalcore and then the 3 album goes straight into hard rock without completely changing themselves. They continued to evolve as a band and now they sound completely different than they did even from City of Evil. I'm personally not a huge fan of their past 2 albums (especially their most recent) but Avenged Sevenfold established themselves because they evolved. No band goes anywhere making the same album over and over again. If you've read this far, I'm surprised. But all in all, solid work from the band. Can't wait to see these guys again. And to the fans that think this "sucks" or whatever, thats cool that's your opinion and no one should resent that. But I would encourage you to try and appreciate it for what it is: a change in identity from a band that has a pretty shitty identity at the moment.

Yeah there's maturing then there's going back in time. This wouldn't sound out of place in the 80's which I think is the problem. They just lost the majority of their fanbase in all probability. It's more than maturation; this is a genre switch.

This song gives me heavy 80's glam rock power ballads vibes! It feels so nostalgic, even tho I found it out just a year or 2 ago...

For years i been tryin to find this song and just now in febuary of 2024, with a relatively recent development of google’s humming feature. Thank God for the minds who came up with that and were able to code it

I'd never heard of this band before hearing this song one night in 2019, on terrestrial radio, I was blasting through Northern Wyoming heading wherever (OTR flatbed truck driver) One of those songs that just sticks in your head.
