I have cancer. It's fucked me up inside so bad. I'm chatting to a really amazing woman who sent me this song and told me it reminded her of me. I'm just glad something reminds me of her to be honest. This clip from Trivium surprised me the first time I saw it, because at the time it showed exactly how I was living my life. After my divorce, I felt lost, abandoned... alone. I always went out for drinks at night, but the emptiness I felt was so great that I kept wandering around my city even after all the bars were closed. I wandered like a living dead through the night. It's been a few years since I got over this unfortunate moment in my life, but whenever I listen to the song or watch the video clip I remember what happened. And it's really nice to know that we can overcome the problems we encounter along the way, and keep moving forward with our lives. Thanks to Trivium for always reminding me of this.

I absolutely love Trivium. Funny story. I met them completely by accident on a random camping trip in Northern Florida. I was drinking and jamming some raucous metal. Trivium was of course on the Playlist. Ember to Inferno came on & these dudes come over to my camp sight and we start shooting the shit. I had seen Trivium a few times live & after a few drinks it hits me these guys look really familiar. I asked them who they were because I had seen them somewhere before. They laughed and said you were just listening to us. I almost lost my mind! Really?! Trivium found me in the woods. Crazy!

I think the obvious point Trivium is making that most people are brushing aside is that this album isn't suppose to be super technical and heavy as Shogun, Matt is now showing he can fucking sing, and that it doesn't sound like Draiman. Yes the harsh and heavy screams are amazing from Trivium, but is there a rule book that says they HAVE to scream every album? No. You don't need to scream to be a legend. Ex. Black sabbath, Metallica, Dio, etc.

Metallica is a legendary band from the 80's-90's...if the new era of Metallica was in place from day one; they would have been shit and never discussed. Point is, Trivium is KNOWN for the in your face, harsh music...if they would have started off with this - noone would be discussing Trivium today...Trivium will always be remembered for the thrash and screams; not for this.

As musicians get older, bands get older, people mature and grow in different directions; much like a tree with it's tree limbs. If they all grew straight up, there wouldn't be shade or shadows to compare and contrast. Get over the fact that this album and Vengeance Falls isn't as harsh or heavy as Shogun, Crusade, or Ember. That's what makes Trivium the greatest metal band; DIVERSITY. Majority of the kids commenting on these new videos are too concerned with their public image. ("I listen to fast/heavy/guttural metal, so that makes me a badass you should be scared of") and that's not at all the message we're receiving from those particular individuals. As one person already set, hit play, close your eyes, kick back and LISTEN. You'll find yourself evolving much faster into someone with intellect. Have a good day, HAIL TRIVIUM!
@legohead4129 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Kile I agree with the first part of your statement, that bands mature and develop over time. However, you seem to have generalised most of the people who don't like the new sound into one stereotype. Not all of those people are like that; there are quite a few fans (like myself, to an extent) who don't like it/prefer the old stuff and are prepared to say that without hating on the band or their choice of musical direction. Also, relating to your 'public image' comment, I have seen some comments like that (this is the internet, it's inevitable), but overall the response seems quite positive and the people who don't like it have, for the most part, justified their views.
@MSFTS_DECAY9 жыл бұрын
+Metal and Stuff 123 If you took what I said as marginalizing or generalizing I'm afraid I may have misspoke or I was taken out of context. What I was referring to was personal experiences with face to face interaction. As you said, this is the internet lol. I'm all for personal enlightenment, with that said, everyone's is different. I open arms accept that. I completely agree with you that for the most part those who have displayed disgust or discontent with Trivium's new sound, have justified their comments with reason. I personally liked Vengeance Falls, albeit the sound doesn't compare to Shogun and the aforementioned albums, but that's what makes them unique. Without evolution we would be with nothing but the same old, recycled riffs, lyrics and melodies. I am a musician myself, and when I'm in my studio writing I like to stick with this method; KISS. (Keep It Simple, Stupid) I believe Trivium as a band have found themselves. But, I'm not trying to convince people into liking the new sound by any means. Freedom of choice is a wonderful thing. HAIL TRIVIUM. \m/(>_
