I did this once. I was gathering information to defend myself against a speeding ticket so I went into the parking lot to take photos of the patrol car that was used to issue me the ticket. An officer approached and told me I couldn't be here. I said I am gathering information for my defence and this is taxpayer property how can I be trespassing and are you denying me my write to full disclosure? I truly did not understand his problem but then he explained to me that there are some undercover cars in the lot and I was jeopardizing investigations and the safety of officers but photographing these cars. There is a OFF LIMITS sign posted there now. The result of this interaction was that I was granted unlimited time in a private interview with an officer to ask all the question I needed to ask with regard to radar and the protocols around using it. It was very enlightening and positive experience.
