The way you are telling the story is great. The questions to lead into the next piece of the story is interesting. Thank you for sharing.

There was at least person a week ago who sympathized with my mother and was extremely vocal about it. That's my guess 😅😅

Would the school district still have your records? Being as it was a photocopy of the birth certificate, they might still have it in their storage?

Indeed they only keep those records for about 7 years in a legal sense. It has been over a decade since I was last in school.

Where do I start? This is so painful to watch, but I am here for you guys. I wanted to say I have that same "walling off thing". It kicked in yesterday, but I was able to send it packing after a short struggle and then a deep conversation with my hub. It's really upsetting when it happens because that's not how I want to be, how I need to be. I told that mental thing that I disagreed with it and moved on, doing my best to smooth my emotions back out and jumped back into being a friend in any way I can. I love you guys! Who knew when we were children one had to jump over such hidden pitfall traps in life? They happen though. I guess I think what matters is how you handle them. My advice to anyone is to be brave and keep a big stick to beat off mental stops to your happiness and success. I wrote this part, deleted, it while crying about walling off, put myself back together, retyped and expanded. One thing I discovered on my own journey, fool I may be, but I'm brave as hell. I've been robbed once as a store manager and faced the next guy down and he ran. I've outran a purse snatcher, and outdriven a man following me. I was hit by a pickup truck 2 decades ago that didn't stop and hit me again, and have had to learn to walk again at least once after a long abdominal surgery. Anyway, I digress. This is your story, not mine. My intent is to give you and anyone reading a message of courage. But you two already have it in buckets. Your mother is quite a piece of work. It's really too bad that she decided somewhere along the line that that was the easy way to live a successful life. I've seen other people do something similar. They find some bad action that works for them (like a Karen!) to get what they want, then they continue to use it to live their life. They lie to themselves, thinking that is is good, that it is best, that it doesn't hurt others, or that the fallout actually helps. Then the worst possible thing happens. Something they actively decided to do, to create in a unique moment of time, becomes automatic and they are no longer in control. They lose their ability to actually see in the present what they are doing, so they don't have to face the bad they've done on a constant basis. Yet underneath somewhere, they do KNOW they are wrong. They just lie to themselves over and over while laying waste to those around them. You are both very strong and powerful. You have been able to step outside the BS life another has tried to trap you in. And your son is a miracle! I hope you can get some rest soon, that this whole exercise has been cathartic. I look forward to your upcoming successes. Even when you finish telling it here and on TikTok, the story continues. I hope to be a part of it. Uh ...I get more space and the typing keeps going. Haven't told you I used to be a part time newspaper editor for my hub's column in the local paper. Tee hee! - I think that's my new tagline

After a long nap, wanted to add: Many of us have automatic survival mechanisms, but that doesn't mean we are bad people. The degree of how positive or negative, is not all black and white from one person to the next. From one to another there exists an almost infinite gradation, many shades of gray, lighter or darker than that next to it. People are not all bad or good, but some certainly take the prize in weighing far more in one direction than the other.

I’m in awww at how horrible of a mother you had. It breaks my heart. I’ve made some very bad choices as a mother and regret they still today and all my children are grown. I have 5, my 1st was born 2 days after I turned 17. Love that you didn’t turn out like her. 🥰
