You're shattering my illusions about average Germans all knowing tons about classical music because so much of it was created there. For what it's worth, I got the tough questions. I remembered the three Bs were German, and that made it easy to guess Schubert. When I heard the Nocturne, I knew it was Chopin, whose name had not come up in the challenge to that point, which may be why the contestants were so thrown. I'm going to look up that thing about Alla Turca having lewd lyrics. The fun-fact about Liszt was a revelation. It would have been surprising if people hadn't recognized those instruments. What a fun game!
@spirit_nightingale97936 ай бұрын
As a Chinese living in Canada, I would say questions 2 and 3 are the hardest. The Schubert one is also a little tricky but the others are very easy if you are a fan of classical music (like me :) ).

16:25 As the formal "Deutschland" was only established in 1871, Brahms was in fact strictly taken the only German. Until then there were Deutsche Völker: German people (plural) that encompassed several Territorialstaate (territorial states}. Deutsch was a cultural attribute rather than a territorial one. Everyone speaking German would be considered German, part of der deutsche Sprachraum (a geographical region where a common language, including dialects is spoken). The ideal of establishing one united Deutschland has however persisted over centuries, but that's a completely different story ...

not a single german guy knows chopin so that 100€ question was gatekeeping your money, clever! (i live in germany beethoven and mozart are well known, bach for distinguished gentleman but chopin? forget it) its also really sad because theres a really big stigma about classical music being this mozart and bach like music and i think chopin with his rather short and emotional pieces is a much easier listen for a casual listener.

Confessions: I knew Bach, Beethoven and Brahms were German but Schubert .... wasn't he from vienna so close enough to German ( silly Australian insults Austrian national pride) Being Australian i had not heard the European anthem.... but that it's Ode To Joy is just perfect! What a great anthem! I am not really familiar with classical piano music more of a symphony girl can identify the major orchestral works the seasons, peter and the wolf, Brandenburg concertos, carnival of the animals, surprise, ode to joy .... Also can typically identify a less played mozart. Yet i was going "Chopin!" It's to calm to be Listz. Yeah so i out myself as not knowing by name much of the the classical piano also slack with opera ..... Love classical music just getting around takes a bit of time
