"Qui est-ce que" means "who" but "who" is the object. "Qui est-ce qui" also means "who" but "who" is the subject. In the case of: "With whom are you going to the cinema?", we need to use "Avec qui vas-tu au cinéma?/Avec qui est-ce que tu vas au cinéma?" because we are talking about the object instead of the subject.

We csn do the same in Spanish ¿Quién es que eres? And it would be similar to how Alexa translates it to English, Who is it that you are? I don't have an answer based in actual grammar, but in Spanish you could say it refers to the person, as in, ¿Quién es la persona que tú eres? Who is the person that you are?

Not a french speaker but I have been learning French for the past 4 years so you can trust me on this one. Tablette here means bar. In french, you wouldn't say chocolate bar, you would say bar of chocolate which translates to tablette de chocolat where de is of. Also, a chips packet would be paquet de chips and so on.

I noticed the same thing, I googled and found that it's similar to english: Qui est-ce qui? means "Who?" when the answer that you expect is the subject. Qui est-ce que? means also Who? when the answer that you expect is the object.

The first "qui" is an interrogative peonoun which means "who". Like in "who is here?" The second qui is a relative pronouns which means "who/that". Like in "the man who/that drank my tea". Est = is, ce = it So it literally means, who is it that/who.. In French they commonly use est-ce qui / est-ce que, after the interrogative words to make questions.

Hi ! I'm not Alexa but I'm french, soo .. :) Formal registrer--> I think (i said "think" ^^), you should use "Qu'est ce que la beauté", but you can say " C'est quoi la beauté ?", all the french speak like that x'D We don't really care about "How to ask a correct question ( grammatically, with the rules,ect)". All the time, to ask a question We say " C'est quoi...." ^^ I've never heard someone saying that si far... You know... French doesn't really speak french like you learn it, i think... Bye ^-^
