I am 60 and just found you. I'm totally addicted. my grandmother bought some land in Oregon in the 50s and passed it on to my mom and dad who in turn passed it on to me and my siblings. I went down with my two brothers to look at it and found that it looked like a 1/2 acre of worthless wooded valley. However, as we were exploring we found a rocky stream, and what did I see but pure black sand. I think I know now why my grand mother bought this land. I can't wait to explore. It's a 6hr drive but I don't care. Thanks for being so fun to watch, and being a teacher of geology. If you have any advice for me, I promise to be a good listener. Except for the location LOL!! If we discover something good I'll let you know. Oh! and thanks a lot for giving me the fever! LOL! I love this channel. You make this fun., you're the greatest!!

Ok. I will make a comment. Jeff, I love the enthusiasm you put into your educating. It is engaging. This video in particular, I have really appreciated the respect you show to history and the desert. As a Utah native, I have often been in places where artifacts of the past have been. Sometimes things that are simply amazing. It is beautiful that another person can come behind me and have the exact same amazing experience. That only happens when we respect on another. Thanks for teaching this.

You're talking a lot of schist today.. Lol.. thank you for all of the great information.. I always love learning something and you are one of the best when it comes to minerals and deposits.. Thank you.. Much love to you and your family from the East Coast side of Virginia.. You are the one that got me into gold mining, because I had no idea that we had a gold vein running through Virginia.. About 5 or so years ago I was walking through a local Creek and found a big hunk of white quartz and I came home and got online and that's when I found you.. The 1st video I watched by you was how to find gold in quartz... Anyway Thanks again.. Lol.. I had to edit this because I thought it was 7 but it was 5 years

Anyone that likes rocks ought to watch your videos. I'm in the Missouri Ozarks so gold isn't really a thing here, but there is a lot of chert and there are a few of us out looking for the high quality stuff. Just like with all the old mining history, the anthropology is directly connected to the geology. Learning a little geology and a little local history can send a person on a Heck of a journey. You're dropping some serious nuggets of wisdom.

Interesting bit of trivia, especially if you like bison, is that one of the big uses the American bison's hide was being put to was on drive belts in factories. The bison weren't just shot to feed railroad building crews, or sell robes to wealthy easterners. Their leather helped build the original industrialization of the US. One of the best examples of gold in quartz I've seen was a white quartz arrowhead with a gold wire running through it.

Your videos are causing much laughter and I frequently hear the cebuano words, "Buang siya!" meaning "he's crazy"! All in good fun though.
