Fyi, from the map description: 76 is intended to be a remake of 815. As for the naming, 76 comes from year 1776, as 8.15 stood for the Korean Independence day. Which... is probably an excuse for putting Overwatch Soldier76 design in the center lol

Dark Origin's name is taken from the single player campaign's secret mission. The stasis cells are also a reference there of. Can't wait to see it in the next ASL!

Ive seen royal vs snow on 76 and it was super funny.. the map has 1 mineral patch next to the nexus, like a fastest map.. and the ramp is super tiny, only marines, zealots and lings fit there. I think we are going to see many marines on tvp

I could have sworn Artosis watched a game on Dark Origin once (although he says otherwise). I swear it was one of those matches in that race wars tournament he played the last game of and he watched a map. At the very least Dark Origin was played in A BSL (the international Broodwar Tourney it was 14 or 15 I think). I saw one match played on Dark Origin and it was TvZ and Terran got an early edge and went into Mech while his opponent went Hydra Lurker maybe? The entire game was fought on the 6 bridges which kinda made sense because it's Mech Terran vs Zerg and Mech Terran vs Zerg has zero mobility and the Zerg player was just preying on Terran overextensions. So yeah if you want to see Dark Origin played then one of the BSLs had a bunch of games casted by blokes like Gypsy. Edited because I called Dark Origin Dark Temple for some reason

Maybe the idea of 76 is that the mineral boost wants to act as half a base? So the main base + back base = 2.5 bases of minerals and 3 of gas. Would still be kinda funky for Zerg due to needing to guard the ramp without creep unless you get another Hatch there.

Its another Zerg island map. But instead of opening up islands like Inner Coven the islands start open and close around the minute mark.

The map variety is so much better in Brood War, where you can get crazy maps and still make it fun and balanced enough. Starcraft 2 balance hangs by a thread, and if there's a single overlord pillar out of position, the hard tries go crazy and demand the maps to be removed. Now all we have is the same S shaped map everywhere.

While the other players have apologized and made amends, Flash has yet to do so, but since he's still in military until May, there hasn't been much.

on slyphid. Terran and Zerg are favored vs Protoss statisticaly. Terrans early pushes close rush distant no highground to kite dragoons. and you can siege main because on lowground Zerg main is easy to muta harass because no vision no room for cannons (hydra bust) maps like 76 where you cant flank with army vs terran and are forced to engage tanks single file because middle is clogged. shame on the terran for letting protoss get to carriers if thats your rebuttle.

It's crazy to hear Artosis give his takes on things like map balance, considering he's an "analyst". In other sports, people like Madden or Romo were top of their fields and then retired to the commentary booth. RT is just there despite neither skill or accurate calls. I'm excited to see these maps played completely differently than he expects and the "anti-Terran" takes he always has. Gotta love it.
