Daniel Fisher, Sweetwater's synth professor, takes you on a sounds demo of the ASM Hydrasynth, offering eight-voice polyphony, "Mutator" waveshaping, and a 32-slot modulation matrix. Hydrasynth is truly a next-generation virtual analog synthesizer for modern music producers. Rivaling the sonic capabilities of many popular software synthesizer plug-ins, each voice features three WaveScan oscillators offering 219 different waveforms, with four Mutators total for extensive waveshaping. Factor in the 49-note keybed, customizable PolyTouch response, expressive ribbon controller, and CV/Gate connectivity, and the ASM Hydrasynth could be the next synthesizer/controller your live or studio rig is asking for.

It's simple, this synth put me back to music after a 25-year break. For me it's the best synth of this decade, and surely one of the best of all time. When you think of the price and what you get, in addition to the build quality ... that's the definition of a MUST-HAVE. PS: Daniel I don’t know why you avoid to tell that you worked on it, you can be very proud of that!! Thanks a lot! Big salut from France, 1980’Vinz.

I played this extensively at Knobcon. The sound is analogue but can be tempered with the type of sterile digital sound an FM synth has. The synth was in their booth so I had no guidance as I began to use it. Within minutes I was getting a sense of where to find parameters I wanted to modify. All weekend I kept coming back to this synth and was amazed each time. The best synth I played at Knobcon.

$799 for the module and $1299 for the keys is a crazy good price. 1000% getting this. The amount of features per price is outrageous. Also it’s nice and compact. If the keys didn’t have the ribbon I’d be tempted to get the module, and I still might. Space is at a premium for me, but poly AT is HUGE. Edit: just preordered the Module from you guys. Can’t wait!

Well done! It is clear you are fully getting this synth and have spent quite a bit of time on it. For everybody drooling over the CS80 my advice is to buy this little beast. It can do all the imortant things the CS provides and a lot more, like a complete PPG / Waldorf style wavetable synthesis system. There is are of course the immediacy and the ergonomic bliss of a real CS but it has it's price. Also maintaining and keeping one alive is an art in itself. Take it from an owner. So pricewise the Hydrasynth is the poor mans CS80 but under the hood it actually a lot more. If I had to start from scratch .....

I wish I was a seller, lol. The polyphonic aftertouch is something big in a small price synth like this. And the ribbon controller is awesome too. Such a cool sounding thing. I saw one in person just the other day and it was actually really impressive. From a build quality perspective I mean. I was really surprised with choice of materials (high quality black powder sort of steel chassis I think) and everything felt super high quality. I'm still having a hard time processing what I saw. I wasn't expecting this level of quality at this price point I guess. Now I am tempted to get one but I also would like a Waldorf Blofeld so...tough call. I make UK garage, trance and some techno. I wonder if the Hydrasynth can do those styles hmmm. Great video Daniel thank you for all you're doing. Cheers.

I had the Prologue 16. First in the shop, I was blown by its sound but after a while I found the analog sound ähm not sweet and overall a bit glassy and somewhat cold. and compressed. There are also to much limitations to get the sound I want. I tried several of the digital OSC models but found its way to hard to work with because of the tiny display and menu diving. Not much fun. And when the analog sound is missing the warmth it just becomes still colder with the digital OSC. So again limited in sound colors May be its just not for me,.. So now this new thingy tells us, digital is the new analog👆😀 The specs and from what I saw and heard it seems promising. Maybe China is the new Japan?

I actually really enjoyed the Prologue 16 (used it for three weeks). Love the filter. The drive settings allow for a lot of variation. It's one of the best sounding synths I've laid hands on. They keyboard was fantastic as well. That said, it has a severe lack of modulation and the screen is painfully small. Ultimately I decided to stick with my Mopho x4.

@@fasteddy191 I love my prologue personally, but I really only use it for Oberheim style brass sounds and pads. The synth is amazing but limited, it fills a great niche. I think this would compliment it well but not replace it, as to me this sounds very purposely digital (in a good way)

14:53 It's this versatility i am after when looking at a digital synth. Can't wait to get one. Sweetwater: you seem to be the first shop to have them on pre-order. Is it anything official or just a standard procedure to list them? I am from germany and i am eager to find a shop that will carry this new brand. Seeing only you have them makes me thing they launch in NA first?

Funny how we keep being told that analog is the only way to go in terms of great sounding synthesizers.

Victor S Take a close look who keeps telling that story. It’s usually people with next to zero experience with synthesizers and music production that replicate random opinions they found on the internet.

Just people regurgitating the same tired argument. Anyone that knows anything knows digital is every bit analogs equal.

This most definitely has the "Wow" factor! Stereo inputs would have been dope to layer some sort of analog synth into it then treat the sounds with the same effects. It's still phenomenal without it! Can you load your own wave tables? I may have missed that part.

Hi Black Moses Beats. The 219 waveforms are what's currently available. But never say never. The instrument will get additional goodies as time goes on. Thanks for watching!
