Dear Sir, your explanation is excellent, thank you very much. You will have more information about the metallographic analysis study of the boiler material.

Good to cover these boilers. Showing the knuckle failure point highlighted great details that inspection uncover. However, I would like to add that you indicated that repair exceeds the cost of repair but, neglected to state that to repair any boiler you would need traceability to the original code of construction, which may not be possible. In addition, the repair and alteration to any boiler in operation (post construction) must be repaired in accordance with the National Board Inspection Code. Thus, in most cases these old loco boilers will not have the necessary documentation to the original equipment manufacturer and thus, would have to be reengineered to the existing ASME Code. Thus, it is more feasible to have a new one built to the ASME Code, Section 1, Power Boiler Construction Code. Thank you.

Allot of what he said isn't true. It's only true for model boilers. Traction engine and locomotive boilers are typically original from the factory built to the National Boiler Code of that particular year.
