To be fair, that's kinda *already* how Castlevania chronology works, where the main Belmonts are centuries apart. It's not all that often where the century differences really matter a whole lot other than if you ever see towns or medieval era technology, but it's enough where you can go into each story fresh and come out with a complete experience. It only matters if a game is meant to be a direct follow up like Symphony to Rondo of Blood/Dracula X, Curse of Darkness to Dracula's Curse or slightly more loosely Portrait of Ruin to Bloodlines. And it's a PERFECT way to make your show as well.

First series takes place in the late 1400s so its past medieval era, it takes place just after the renaissance era began. This series is heavy into the colonial era and during the French revolution so around 1790. For anyone wondering why it looks more "modern" and why the original characters aren't present.

*Somehow I didn’t hear a singular word about the Netflix Castlevania series for YEARS after its release. Then one day I randomly saw a KZbin clip of the castle entry fight scene, where Sypha cuts some Aladdin looking vampire in half, dick first, with a giant blade of ice, and that clip alone made me go find the show and watch it all, all the seasons had come out by that point. I watched it and absolutely loved it. It was one of the best animated pieces of absolute fucking ART I’ve ever seen. It looks like the animation has improved for the new series, likely a bigger budget after the success of the first series. And I’m looking forward to the new series, though I hoped it was about the distant past OG Belmonts, but maybe it’s Trevor and Syphas son/children. Hope the next Netflix adaptation after "Nocturne" is a mix of "Legacy of Darkness", "68" and "Order of Eclesia" (the latter because we are never specified when in the 1800s it's set). I imagine the story would be about Barlowe and the Actrise trying to corrupt either Xanoa or Cornell, more likely Xanoa. One thing I hope to see on that show, is to see Aida remember it was her older brother who murdered her biological parents, leaving her prone to be bitten and ready to fight for her masters. Nothing personal, I just don't think it's good for her to forget something like that. I imagine the story would begin with Cornell and Aida (Barlowe would be the mastermind trying to get the curse's power for Dominus), but while he would succeed at saving her by giving up his power, I imagine Guilles would turn her into one and use her to torment the former werewolf. Then, we would jump to the "64" storyline, only this time including Xanoa instead of Dracula's kid version.

Is this a different timeline ? Because last time I checked, Dracula was at peace with his wife. Sure, she died again of old age by this point, but now he didn't have a reason to have at them. Regardless, "Rondo of Blood" and "Symphony of the Night" are among my favorite games, so I'm super happy about this. Although, I wouldn't mind if there were some sort of flashback sequences set in the "Harmony of Dissonance" period. I always loved that game as well (though I always prefered the neutral ending).

It's different from the games, but it's still the same timeline as the original show. You're right about Dracula, and it doesn't look like he'll be the (main) villain this time. The "vampire messiah" got namedropped in an interview with the show's production team. I don't have the name on me, but I know it wasn't Dracula. The archetypes of "evil emissary in service to the dark lord" and said dark lord are both here just like Rondo of Blood, they're just not Shaft and Dracula. I'm excited, too!

Witcher anime was also quite decent way better than the show! Dark animes are the best by far but they are quite rare as Japanese public don't like them to be aired on TV then Netflix becomes a perfect platform for them. They could really capitalize on it and there are a shit ton of dark manga series nobody could dare to produce their animes or canceled ''too violent'' anime series...

This isn’t a Japanese anime, it’s a western cartoon. Lots of violent anime air on tv, theyre more concerned about anime causing seizures from bright lights than anything else lmao. This sort of show is fine to air on American tv, esp something like Adult Swim. Castlevania just got picked up during a time where Netflix was funding everything. It’s a miracle it got enough support for a full season. Let’s hope that continues.

@@ma.2089 It is correct there were American studios involved in production of Castlevania but there were also a lot of Korean and Japanese studios as well so ''western cartoon'' claim is just wrong. Japanese public is worried about a lot things and there is constantly political BS going on. This is the exact reason why vast majority of animes are just shounens as they could be aired with zero trouble and they also receive the most rating. There were also many animes that Japanese people didn't like but they were loved worldwide but still their next seasons were canceled after all it doesn't bring rating from Japanese TV they can't fund next seasons. There is really huge market for Netflix if they realize it hopefully. About dark theme i would agree Castlevania isn't really that bad and could be aired in Japan as well but there are far far worse animes and mangas..

Blood and gore does not make something dark. There are countless mangas and animes that has 0 blood and gore but makes berserk look like something out of Disney channel. EDIT: Also the reason why the majority of anime are shounen is because shounen is way more popular and shounen manga makes the most amount of money. The Japanese public has nothing to do with it.

An example is Arcane, Riot and Fortiche studios did the whole show but Netflix streams it. This Castlevania adaptation is Powerhouse studios creation and they already did 4 seasons that people liked.

This trailer is such a hype monster. It's really really well made and edited. But, at least for me, the season turned out quite plane and boring. There were some cool moments and only last 15-20 sec of the whole season really got me excited. iykyk. As a side note, I'm not familiar with the whole game story / lore, I only watched original Castlevania series and then this one. For now, it fels that original was way better from the start. Maybe this characters and the world need some more time and it will be better later, but for now, this season was more of a dissapointment, than excitement. Also, music in trailer is so good and set the tone, and is barely there in the series..
