On the negativity ruling KZbin thing, I first noticed this with Minecraft videos, I constantly still, despite trying to make it stop, get videos about how lazy Mojang is and how bad Minecraft is now. I think the most painful thing about it is how infectious it is. For example, sometimes I've found it difficult to trust content on something trying to stay positive because I get the sense of it being fake. It's like the phrase "once bitten, twice shy". We have a tendency to avoid things that have hurt us but it makes us focus on or assume the worst. So maybe someone is being genuine while discussing something and not finding complaints or posing them as minor because they are but there have been so many instances of people being bribed or blind to issues that it makes people gun-shy about it. Sometimes it also seems like we have mostly the two extremes toxic negativity and also toxic positivity. You'll have subgroups of channels that practically only bash things and others that only compliment things and sometimes they'll trade back and forth based on subject (per video/topic extremes). Too many people getting burned one way or another.

The negative shift js the same thing that happened to online journalism. Anger is one of the most powerful emotions we have, and will most likely have us share a video or article. Same with yt videos now. For the DEI stuff, it is part of the problem. There is a massive problem of inauthentic "diversity" that is literally just tokenism. But people who legitimately racist muddy the waters of people who just don't want to be lectured about inclusion when they already feel they are.

On the 'Negativity KZbin' thing, under the lens of a current videogame: Helldivers 2 was an extremely succesful game at launch that happened to stumble a semi-consistently after some months in regards to dev decisions, for roughly 2-3 months, the popular thing became to dogpile on the game, how it was 'ruined / fell off / fumbled / died / wasted potential', and while criticism was obviously deserved, the game was drowned in negativity which also happened to do many big numbers and engagement on KZbin, at this point the game is in much better shape, which is a personal relief for me, as I was feeling drained myself, looking for cool content about a game I love, only seeing 80% of it being trashing on the game.

Asmongold getting cancelled wassurprisingly refreshing in the content sphere. Especially since the start of the Mr. Beast drama, it seems like literally any take is met with the exact same hate regardless of what it's about. I didn't expect wild racism against Palestinians to be the tipping point, but since then most takes have been people realizing that this crazy guy used to be just like them. I dunno how true it is, but I think a lot of people saw Asmongold in themselves and realized they need to maybe pump the brakes on the hate content.

Im not saying this to defend the dude, asmon is an actual goblin. But taking the sentiment of cleaning his room as penance, and tearing that apart is a pretty ignorant and surface level way to approach it. Its clear that what he means is he needs to self reflect on the choices in life that hes made to put him in the position where he felt ok saying what he said. He said himself, he needs to take accountability for his wrongdoings, doing that will require growth as a person. Part of that growth involves the cleaning of his room. His room has reached that point due to different opinions perspectives and character traits within himself that he used to justify his filth. By confronting and correcting that filth, he will come closer to confronting/correcting at least some of the negative traits within himself that led to that point. Those traits most definitely affect other aspects of his life, and as long as he keeps on the same track he will grow as a person. Ideally for the better. I hope he can pull through to be honest. Im aoways happy to see people correct and improve themselves.

To be fair shitting on DEI is not shitting on diversity being introduced to gaming, but tokenism. "Look at this character whos only personality trait is that he/she is gay" is not quite the representation you'd think of when you try to get rid of old biases. Corporate trying to spreadsheet out how to include people of different groups will just lead to worse products. that's why i see the biggest chance for actual progress in indi games, where you see world created that have people from the LGBTQ community in them, without needing big neon signs above their head that ask you clap cuz "we got gay people"
@Mooinator300010 күн бұрын
Yeah, but when they do the argument of "they're only doing woman in thing for money" it's entirely ignorant of the fact that the only reason every character was a white dude for decades was because that was for money. As the medium gets broader, more people are wanting to be part of it which means more communities want to be represented to spend their money on it. Dudes like Asmongold are just sad that games aren't only marketed to white basement dwelling dudes and as such every character isn't supposed to be a white dude like them

Even if you think you have you discuss negative things for clicks and views, when you end with messaging like this 15:19 I think you're able to give these topics a positive spin. That's why I sub, that's why I'll always click on whatever you post. I'm it for the long haul, love your stuff!
