@@defaultname7685 I'm pretty diehard fanboi over XIV; constantly trying to get my wow friends to play who's still harping the "nah, it's a weeb game, not for me" smoothbrain rumormill. But I've not played since 6.2 myself. The hardcore endgame isn't really for me, I stepped in for my FCs static for 6.1 and had fun with that, but once we'd cleared that 8 times and everyone had the mount, everyone but like 2-3 hit the pause button and waited for the next tier, by which the guy I was replacing came back. I'm still super hyped for Dawntrail and will ofc come back sometime in 6.5 to catch up the story and get boosted through savage tiwer for the mount once again, as is tradition in my FC xD All this to say, pulling away fro mthe game is natural and what Yoshi-P and crew intended. They don't want to give you daily login reasons, it's a game not a lifestyle.

I actually respect Josh's fanbase because despite his content being revolved around criticizing things, something that usually also attracts spiteful people in general who just hop on to be mean instead of critical, his core audience are actually not only mature but absolutely pleasant people. Then there was this one dude. I don't know if I can namecall but... boy. Was he angry that I suggest maybe improving PVP, as PVP was a major part of why WoW and many other older MMOs were so popular. I figured I argued my point pretty well, was respectful, and made it abundantly clear I played the game up to stormblood way way back when Shadowbringers was announced, as in before the major WoW exodus to FFXIV, so it was pretty clear I was speaking as more than just "another WoW refugee". I consider myself a veteran of playing mmos for 20 years now. Not just 1-2, I've tried most of the stuff on the market. From the most obscure Chinese Kung Fu mmos to the titans of the previous age like Guild Wars, WoW, Runescape. Everquest is the only major one I have not played. I spoke as a dude who tried the game on it's own merit, and didn't want it to be like wow. I wasn't even thinking about making it like wow. Just make a good JRPG turn based 4v4 team system or something I dunno. Make their own twist to pvp combat. This dude went on some unhinged rant about how I was a toxic wow fanboy trying to "bring wow's toxicity to FFXIV". The dude had one of those in game catgirl characters and had a bio that basically was him saying he was quirky, or something of that nature. Or maybe she. Who knows. The stuff he wrote. I've seen him here and there, and every time he was arguing with someone about how great FFXIV is and how dog*** every other MMO or game for that matter is. I really like that game, my in-game interactions in dungeons have been nice, but outside the game? Just talking to the community on small talk or ideas? My God. It's so disheartening. It feels so creepy and weird.

That is confirmed and shown at the first day of Fan Fest. When Patch 6.5 releases, Stormblood will become part of the free trial's content. That's like 3/5th of the entire game that's going be basically free! Though it's gonna be half of the whole game when Dawntrail comes out next summer. Also, given the way how Stormblood's post-MSQ ends, it's gonna be the perfect way to hook in interested free trialers in going into Shadowbringers.

it's legit the hard mode version of doing an ultimate. With the free trial restrictions it will mean that you will need to do stormblood savage raids (can join unsync parties or have friends run you through) to get the closest thing to BiS you can. You also can't trade or use mb, so you'll need to make your own food and pots as well

@@F34RDSoldier805 I think they definitely will add Shadowbringers into the free trial but probably not until the current arc reaches its high point of the rising action phase (a Shadowbringer equivalent of the current arc you could say). Endwalker as good as it is, really does feel like ARR in the sense that the meat of the expansion is in the first patch, and everything afterwards is coined post-expac and just busy work to set the story up for everything after. I think they would probably want people to play free trial all the way to Shadowbringer, love it enough to buy the latest expac to experience the ending of that arc in Endwalker. And then, they would probably want people to be satisfied with their purchase when they reach the second arc's high point in 8.0/9.0. So it might take up to 6 years down the line, really, considering it took 6 years after ARR to reach the high point in Shadowbringers.

It was a real shame. He got turned off to it because people kept whining that he "Wasn't playing the game" only he was. He was just doing it at his own pace and enjoying it the way he wanted to. Apparently streamers can't do that. Even still, you see people in the comments here about how he's still not playing the game and taking forever to get to the content they like. The FFXIV community is regarded as one of the best communities in gaming, as long as you follow the exact path they want you to run on. People really need to learn how to be patient and realize instead of watching someone else play the game, they can just play the game themselves and do the content they like, without Asmon. It's that easy. There's no need to harass a streamer for taking their time with a game you enjoy.

I don't really understand why he desperately wanted to play the newest content. FFXIV is a very chill and fun game and he had a pretty nice community and seemed to enjoy it. No need to rush, people will always play the old stuff. Nothing to gain from the super new content really, the game doesn't have a pp length comparison community and it's not pushing the need to get the best gear ever.

@@Dastan117 There was also the issue of how he was kind of marketing it as a big return to the game but his streams were very different than what people expected. with hours of looking at reddit and videos while people were sitting around wondering if he was going to get to the game or not. If there were clearer start times and such then there wouldn't have been as much complaints. The expectations were raised very high in the build up to the return.

It's not that. He just got disappointed the numbers weren't as high as he thought they would be and didn't care afterwards. Taking a long pause also doesn't help given you're not in tune anymore with the pacing of the game so when you come back you might not feel it in the same way and he probably didn't care about giving Stormblood more time.

It's not just annoying people in chat. There are several reasons why Asmon might not return to FF anytime soon: 1. Asmon is a variety streamer now, and he already dedicated plenty of time to FFXIV 2. The growth / health of his viewership is one of his top priorities, he takes a lot of pride in being one of the best / popular streamers 3. Asmon is genuinely interested in the gaming landscape, so he will play as many new game releases as he can 4. Asmon enjoys FFXIV, but there are games that he personally enjoys more 5. There's not enough time to get into it

@@peytonalexander5300 I think it might be an Artist job potentially. TMNT are named after famous artists and Yoshi P was wearing the shirt for the new movie that is releasing. While theres technically no definitive Artist job from the history of FF, Relm from FF6 was essentially that. Will be interesting to see what the new jobs are though. Im expecting either Corsair or Duelist for the melee DPS. A lot of the aesthetic for the trailer is definitely pirate themed but the sword the WoL is using in the trailer wasnt exactly a traditional sword such as a cutlass and the single frame of a weapon you can see on his hip when he gets knocked back suggests it could be either a gun or a dagger. Really excited to see what well be getting!

Even y'shtola's face was too rounded with way too big eyes, which was the opposite of g'raha's problem. On this trailer, they went to something closer to what they had in shb while also leaning towards the in-game models. Case in point, g'raha has proper sized not-weird-looking eyes

Asmon playing XIV is the reason I found him in the first place so it's nice to see him reacting to this content, which might help nudge him back into the game if we're lucky. Either way it's cool to see a one handed sword class since I never liked Paladin and using a shield so hopefully this Pirate class will be fun to play (at least I suspect it's a pirate class)

It's most likely Corsaire, a somewhat-staple Final Fantasy job. Might be one-handed, but seeing as there has been a pretty heavy dual-wield hint dropped during the fanfest, it could also be something like, sword in one hand, pistol in the other or whatever. We'll have to wait and see 😅

Still though I do like being Guts from Berserk with DRK too. It's hard to choose when you get so many cool classes.

Tl;dr this is the Beach Episode of FFXIV. The WoL is going back to their roots of being an adventurer, and they're starting by taking one step into an area so disconnented by the rest of the world due to sheer distance (this is South America to put it into perspective). Far as the trailer is concerned, there is no big nasty plot for Eorzea to worry about. We are here with the excuse of exploring new mysteries the world of Eorzea still have to offer that Endwalker never touched. We already heard about this new zone somewhat through the Blue Mage questline. This land is where Blue Mage originated from, and the 2 NPCs following our trainer are beast men native to that land. So yeah. Beach episode in a land that far as we're concerned had never existed till now.

I like how WoW tried to copy FFXIV's "final chapter" theme of Endwalker that that disastrous final patch of shadowbringers... And now FFXIV is doing the Adventure theme WoW's doing, and will probably do it better. Dragonflight is so annoyingly patronizing, like the devs & VA's think they're creating a daycare that because they're too worried about what twitter thinks are too afraid of creating anything gritty so they can't help but repeatedly use the "power of friendship" in most things.

@@Skryzeeful yeah, stormblad is kinda meh. It was amazing for it's time cuz it brought shit ton of innovation, trials were getting more dinamic, more like a spectacle and all that, lost of QoL. Many people love it for it, but man, the story is a snoozefest most of the time. It starts to pick up and gets cool in post stormblood though and is much better from that point and up to the end of endwalker 😕 It means that with including stormblood in the free trial - they basically blue balling players who will finish the trial version content as ending of post stormblood is a literall cliffhanger

Im going to go say the classes are going to be Corsair and for the Magic Caster it will be Geomancer which in Japanese is 風水師 or Feng Shui Master. Predict the Geomancer will probably be a DPS Astrologian except instead of cards they use those paper charms to use nature magic.

That whole system is honestly a mess since Conjurer and Thaumaturge were supposed to have their own identities originally where Conjurer is basically a Druid and Thaumaturge is a Warlock but they were hamfisted into becoming precursors to White and Black Mage because they needed to go with traditional FF jobs.

Sure, trailer music for FF14 has gone a certain rock direction since Shadowbringers, and even if it's not your taste it's not necessarily a bad thing. But the rest of the in-game soundtrack is just as good and varied as Nobuo's stuff. Both Nobuo AND Soken have earned a place in my favorite game composers
