Also, from a business/corporate standpoint: IE can be used to access old legacy sites that havent been updated in years. Edge had an "IE Mode" but what it did was open up the old IE even if you cant run it normally. What did those business do? Well, they found they could just pin the IE app on the taskbar and then use Chrome for all other uses. Thats why the new Edge (with the Wave) is actually built on Chromium (Chrome's engine), and it has a built-in "IE Mode" to access those old corporate sites, so that Microsoft can fully get rid of this undying abomination.

the thing with chrome is that it's google, it pushes itself the way IE used to before Microsoft's browser was beaten into submission once it faced competition with similar financial backing on PC. it also tracks tf out of you and i don't like it, so i use firefox with an adblocker and tracker blocker installed. anything that "needs" chrome can usually be done through opera which is much more secure. malware etc also tends to be worst with the dominant browser to maximize potential targets, so firefox and opera being comparatively small is also sort of a blessing in that regard. i can trust both browsers just a little bit further than their profit motive.

@Igneusflama3 жыл бұрын
Chrome's memory hog status is actually a misconception. Google takes a lot of memory but is going to share it with anything that asks. Rather than memory sitting unused, Google hangs onto it to speed itself up. If something else needs that memory, Google gives up those "speed up" bits of memory. Chrome has actually become more memory efficient than other browsers by not keeping tabs you don't need active, but it still LOOKS like a memory hog because task manager only tells you the total memory used.

I used to be able to hear what the modem was doing by sound. Even troubleshoot it. it is noise to others but it is computers way of communicating back when stuff was slower and you could hear it. The first angry sounding tones are the pre check to make sure the modem was working properly, the dying sound was handshaking with the other system for example.

Yahoo lives on because of it's semi transition to news. Comparatively to other popular news sites, its friendly and easy to manage and change. As far as browsers, pro-users use Firefox for the customization, seamless browsing use chrome for the ease, and n00bs or corporate/government people use IE for compatibility. Edge came along because Microsoft needed to replace flash player and other out to date plugs.

Current firefox and opera's gamer version are currently the best in their individual ways. Edge was pretty good for a while but chrome has overpowered it once and for all.

Hooooly hell, even as I type this, I thought Firefox was just as relevant as Chrome!! That's insane.. Also, in regards to twitter's number, I wonder if that includes how many times someone logs on their app in a day, or is that specifically visiting the website, as phones will keep the cache in their phone when it's minimized so that it doesn't have to "reload" again.

Yea Chrome is only that big because of android phones and stuff coming with Chrome preinstalled im pretty sure. I personally use firefox and love it because of the features that it has. Been using firefox for sooooo long too lol.

We have to remember that lots of these have way more users than the video shows because people would be using the app versions like youtube / twitter etc

Any Web Developer will tell you IE was a nightmare to work with when making websites, they never followed to web standards and we always had to build IE hacks just for them to work, while all other browsers were following the standards.

One of the reasons Google dominates in the browser market is because of mobile. Also think about all those Chrome Books out there in use. They all are running Chrome. Google has an effective monopoly at this point as most users do basic internet stuff and really don't care beyond that (or their privacy).

91 here, don't remember the first online game I played, warcraft: reign of chaos truly made the online experience something great... Here was a game that took the idea of modding and making your own content and put it right infront of the player, made it easily sharable.. Such a brilliant idea.
