Don't agree with you on forced progression and constant new servers being released. Some people Enjoy Vanilla, but not Wrath, or prefer TBC and not Vanilla. Personally I prefer Vanilla, I don't want to be forced to move on to TBC, or restart from scratch again. I would rather like to have the option to copy any of my characters from previous versions of the game to TBC/Wrath, and keep my Vanilla Characters in the actual Vanilla game.
@RejectedGalaxy7 жыл бұрын
This 100%. Much rather copy my char over to BC, so I can keep my vanilla characters preserved, and also progress on BC.
@michaelramsey12997 жыл бұрын
If the do a BC I think it should give you free character transfers do you can choose to move on to BC or just stay where you are. Personally it wouldn’t matter as I never took to Vanilla Horde races but was a Blood elf an hour after BC went live and have been ever since.
@jasonfisher72977 жыл бұрын
Again, would much rather be able to copy my character to TBC, but keep him on the Vanilla server as well, 99% of all of the gear in Vanilla is rendered useless come TBC.
@michaelramsey12997 жыл бұрын
Jason Fisher the problem is character copy isn’t a current service they offer and doing in the legacy servers would be quickly followed by forum post after forum post for it to be on the regular servers as well.
@asmongold13417 жыл бұрын
That's a good point, I think the best way they could do it is allow people to move their characters over from the vanilla server to a BC server prior to release and allow the people who don't want that to keep their characters on a Vanilla server with all progression unlocked. I do still think it would be a good idea to have progressive vanilla servers rotating though to renew interest when they're released.
@sepfirem7 жыл бұрын
IF they also add tbc and wrath etc servers they should not restart vanilla one at that point... it takes casual player who wants to still keep enjoying vanilla like a month to get back to 60 and if they have to do it again they will probably just quit... more reasonable would be option to clone your 60lvl toon from vanilla into tbc and start progressing there while also playing the vanilla without fresh start and do same with wrath progression
@PelFox7 жыл бұрын
Terrible idea yes. If they do that they should keep the server and you can chose if you want to continue in TBC or just stay.
@mattfx3247 жыл бұрын
sepfirem I would quit if they tried to touch my vanilla character. I don't even want a burning crusade legacy server on the table rn, they need to focus on vanilla. But if they made me restart just to "keep things fresh" I'd quit, they'd be wasting my time.

Retail on release had a per server cap of 2500 players, currently Elysium Lights Hope is seeing 8500 players. The player base on private servers are much higher than what vanilla was on release.

Safe to assume the server capacity will be a little larger than at launch though. That's why im kind of more excited than i would be, technology has improved since the launch which will hopefully make the classic launch a great experience for new and returning vanilla players :)

No, my brother. The struggle was real. Aside from it being actually difficult for us newbs, sometimes running too far down the stairs would pull everything and wipe you. Sometimes the bosses wouldn't spawn. Sometimes mobs would just disappear or respawn at random. Sometimes the NPCs would bum-rush the bosses while most of the adds were still up, wiping you or getting themselves killed. It may not have been glitches as it was just a badly coded event, and it remained like that until Cataclysm.

Considering the high amount of casual players, resetting a vanilla server will spell doom for the whole "Classic" Official model. Most people don't have MONTHS to spare on levelling every time a reset happens. Either way, I hope it releases like it was back then. Hey Asmongold, I was there too for my first show Blizzcon this year. When he started talking about Ice cream, my jaw hit the floor. Later after the Classic logo dropped I was yelling for joy! I am so happy, for the first time in like 10 years my joy of WoW has returned. I am like you in many ways on the game keeping it real as possible to its roots. If thats how they do it I will be happy. But I dont see what the difference would be if they put the new game models in the game to replace the old ones. If the progression and difficulty is there it will make for a better game. But if they dont and keep it old school it will be great. I work freelance as an illustrator, and even got some awesome critique at the Digital Art Panel ( I asked a question at 18:00 and was on TV). I am planning on doing some major fan art for WoW Classic, I am so excited. And I am going on a campaign to get my old buddies to play again too.

@thorbeorn42956 жыл бұрын
Idk, but I've always thought about this. Yes, people love vanilla, yes people wanna play it but honestly does everyone really wanna PAY to play a 14 year old game? It's like paying a subfee for playing Zelda, or Halo or some shit. I don't think that many people will. Will classic be a success? Sure, maybe, but I don't think that every single one from the private server scene will switch to it. I think private servers will be alive and well. Because honestly I think playing for free is a HUGE deal when it comes to private servers. Even if it is such a low price as 15 dollar a month I don't think everyone is gonna do it.

Why are you so much against making changes? The core experience of Vanilla is: 40 men raids, leveling experience (hard to hit 60), the feeling of accomplish something putting effort, and finally the close contact between the community. Balancing classes doesn't destroy anything of this. Yes i played vanilla wow and nostalrius. We loved vanilla wow and STILL love vanilla wow because of the CORE experience. Some tweaks to some specs would make the game more enjoyable. Stop thinking changes can be bad, some changes can be good. 1.The game will only be ruined if they put in huge changes like rdf / lfr, xp / gold / itemdroprate adjustements.2. Changing small quality things like having achievements , skillbased pvp ranking system, making more specs viable. Balancing classes slightly will make also pvp more fun, sucks just seeing rogues warriors mages and priests everwhere also in PVE). Things like achievements , insta looting (no aoe looting), class balances... those things wont ruin the great feeling of getting to lvl 60. Those things wont change the feelings you had when you got your first shoulderpads at lvl 17-20 . those things wont make it easier to get to lvl 60. those things wont ruin the social aspect of legacy wow they just wont. Balancing classes that are unplayable in end game content wouldn't ruin the vanilla experience i mean people wont even invite you for raids if you're rolling unviable class or spec. It takes all the joy out of that class/spec to be lowest on the meters, to be shit in pvp, to never be invited to raids. If they were to balance out the classes slightly and make certain specs and classes playable, i would not see it as a change to the gameplay, only making certain specs somewhat viable. People want vanilla back becuse of reasons that wouldn't be affected by these minor changes, but many are too ignorant or blinded by nostalgia to discuss about having some minor changes. This stuff wont affect all the great stuff in a negative way. We have a chance to make a great game even greater.
@zedthefish7 жыл бұрын
My opinion is that class balance ruins the classes. While it certainly does not make sense that some specs are useless, I believe that every class is unique because they have their own strength and weaknesses. People should also know by now what they are getting in to. Pick the role you want to play and choose your class accordingly. It is what it is. Every class has a place in PvP and PvE. The only time a class will be shunned is if they are in the incorrect spec or if the particular guild is VERY hardcore and focuses on 100% optimisation.

nice vid, im also excited for the WoW classic thing, but also i think you are a little bit extremist, the way you are talking is like you really want a different launcher for classic wow a prehistoric like launcher with no shop, friend list ID, nothing at all... thinking as if i were blizzard, i would be like: wtf dude!? srly!? i mean, i play since vanilla and i wasnt that great of a raider but i had a lot of fun, but now im on my 30+ and knowing i have a chance to play vanilla again is great, but im also open minded that they COULD make the game with the new graphics and animations, since they want also the game to appeal for the noobzors who never played vanilla and wants to try that shit. So graphics and animations would be nice but for me they arent neceesary and if they dont implement them, i dont give a shit... BUT Quality of Life CHanges like LFD, LFR, Flexibles, Quest Helpers with arrows, Massive autolooting, etc... that kind of things would kill me.... but the current graphics and animation would not... but it is just my opinion that im ok if they do that or not, we will have to wait and C.

Mate, thats not being extremist. Thats how Vanilla was back in 2004-2006. I dont see your point.. The point of no changes, is so that we get an authentic 100% experience. We dont want an 99% experience. We want 100%. percent. If people dont like that, then you can always go back to modern WoW.

I don't think boosts will be in the game for the simple fact that boosts haven't gotten to max level yet. for instance i don't think they're gonna boost you to 60 but i also don't think they're gonna boost you to 50. Problem with vanilla is you're gonna be screwed if you start anywhere but from level 1 because if you start anywhere deep into the leveling process or towards the very end you need a lot of stuff done prior for you to be able to really play at 60 or really anywhere after level 30. for instance there's no gear to go with the boosted characters, they would have to add in new armor for that. I doubt they're gonna either have high res armor on low res models or have high res armor and high res models that look like they're from current xpac WoW running around low res vanilla Azeroth, and i don't think they're going to put in new intentionally low res armor. if they do decide to do boosts they will most likely take some old low res armor and rename it and change its stats but i guarantee they wont do that just because of the backlash. what we should really be worried about is the wow tokens, i know right now on my legion realm its 20$=200k gold i guarantee they will shoe horn in their gold selling market, that or risk bringing back the bots, gold sellers, and Chinese gold farmers that used to PLAGUE the game before gold became much easier to get and then eventually purchasable through Blizz.

I've been waiting for this for some time, but didn't think we would hear a peep about it any time soon. I was actually more hyped for the legacy announcement purely because I was already expecting new expac stuff, whereas most of us weren't expecting this. I'm willing to wait as long as it takes them to make this work, and more importantly, make it right.

Thanks Asmon! I have been on youtube every 6-12 hours waiting to hear your thoughts on the matter. And I agree 100%. Personally, I also would most rather see the game in its purest form, though admittedly that is likely not possible - for sure not probable. So instead of focusing on what I want to stay the same (which is everything) here are the things I would not HATE to see changed: First, the new models don't really bother me. The Blizz art team has done an excellent job, and if Blizz wants to use the new models, so be it. Second, some minor reworking MIGHT not be a terrible idea. The main example that comes to mind are things like mana issues for boomkins and shadow priests that made them basically unplayable. I don't want to see any big changes - especially in pvp, but as I see it, fixing something that simply did not work is different than re-balancing classes. Third, and this is going to anger a lot of people, I MIGHT not mind a small adjustment to leveling. By small, I don't mean 7x or 12x or whatever private servers do. I mean like 1.5x. My reason for this is simply for the general appeal. 24 hours /played to get high enough to do deadmines (VC IS BACK!) could burst the morale of a lot of people and kill the appeal. I would like to see the newer generation come in and see what it was they missed, and love it as I have loved it. I don't want leveling to be easier. I want to drink in between fights. I want first aid to be relevant. I want to fear the mrglrglmrglmrrrlggg. But changing the time from 1-60 from 7 days /played to 4-5 days could help keep they hype of those who don't already have the commitment. It would make vanilla more alt friendly, and would still be longer than it takes to go from 1 to ilvl 900+ in today's WoW. But as you said, picking and choosing what to fix or not fix really comes down to an arbitrary decision, which will upset as many people as it helps. So in the end, no, I don't want anything to change. And for the love of God, if they add a dungeon finder I will light something on fire.
@garneroutlaw17 жыл бұрын
Asmon has it all wrong. It isn't going to attract many more subscribers. I raided on a migration server from Blackrock with some of the top guilds in the country. Most of the vanilla players I played with have completely moved on with the game. The experienced raiders are now in their 30s and 40s with families. If they do not up the drops from 40 man bosses, this server will be absolutely terrible. The turnover rate will be higher than even original WoW. Towards the end of vanilla, the 40 man model was already failing. With the same 40 man boss drop rate, guilds won't be able to gear people up fast enough to progress deep into AQ40 and Naxx. There will just be too much strain on people to go back into MC every week for a clear every week. It's going to turn into a big drama fest. As much as I would like to go back and relive those moments and finish naxx, no thanks. Just not worth the headache.
@PelFox7 жыл бұрын
I'm hoping they tune it down slightly and make raids 20 or 25 man. 40 Man raids was a pain in the ass and only worked because the population was so big. But even back then there were like 2-3 good guilds per faction and server. Having 40 ppl on at the same time for several hours doing same thing over and over, also farming flasks etc before/after raids is a struggle. It worked back then because the players were teens, most vanilla players are like you said,30-40 now. They won't be able to keep up and I don't believe the teens of today who plays retail WoW will enjoy Vanilla that much, they are used to something completely different.
@sHmAaa7 жыл бұрын
I agree with drop rates, they are most likely going to increase them since I doubt they will be releasing the content on a 3 years period. Don't agree with anything else. Other than the raids who are originally 20 mans they shouldn't touch anything. All that you have mentioned is what made Vanilla the experience that it was. Oh and I'm 26, played Vanilla on release. You need to relax hahahaha.
@garneroutlaw17 жыл бұрын
40 man raids will work on a classic server if they up the boss drops. Possibly add a token from each boss usable by any class to purchase tier items. This will help mitigate the probable high turnover rate. It'll be much higher than vanilla - I am confident of this.
@troyjohnson71547 жыл бұрын
There are going to be SO many more players playing the game this time around. Its NOT gonna be an issue to set up 40 man groups. If they keep the release schedule the same as before, that will give everyone enough time to gear up. To not release a game because you dont think people can behave is stupid.
@garneroutlaw17 жыл бұрын
The problem is the gear hurdle. Only 4 items dropped from bosses back then for a 40 man guild. Sure you will have enough time, but time will also be the enemy itself. You'll see very high turnover rates. From 1.12 to the end of Nov 2006, my server/guild lost about 50% of its playerbase. Sure, some of them came back for TBC, but vanilla just couldn't hold peoples attention back then - how is it going to hold people's attention for a span of 6-12 months now? My point is that a "purist" vanilla model will not be possible. Some changes will be necessary.

Vanilla at the end of the day was super broken. Most classes only had one spec that worked if that. Their were no quests in the zones to level up. I played vanilla I liked it. But that was a different time. Wow right now has a good majority of people that started during wrath. Any of those people will last a day or two and start complaining. My biggest fear is the main fact that Blizzard tends to make changes to the loud minority of people. So the vanilla server that we will get is one that has a LFG and have new class balance changes from bc or along those lines. Vanilla was challenging. Quest mobs could kill you. Elites needed at least 2 people to kill. The biggest thing people will bitch about is the mounts. WTF I cant get a mount until 40 this is bullshit. People want vanilla servers but were not all 16-20 anymore. We have jobs now and cant spend days and days leveling or doing those things like we used to. When they come out I will check it out since Vanilla was my first mmo. But the thing we need to make clear is Blizzard needs to keep them the way they were. They cant buckle under the bitching of a few players. When they do come out there needs to be an asmongold guild and I want in. If vanilla did anything it forced people to interact with other people. I loved vanilla but you need to take of the rose tinted glasses and admit the game was broken. Keep up the great videos Zack. Sorry I have had this on my mind since they got announced and just wanted to vent to someone. p.s. I bet you $3.50 three fidity that wrath hunters will complain right away when they have to use a bag for their ammo and actually feed their pets and pay gold to get their new pet skills. Same thing with rogues. Once they find out they need to go to the vendor or farm herbs just to use skills.

Wrath hunter here playing a vanilla private server. Feeling very OP compared to other classes questing. I spend about 2 hours at night playing and averaged 2-3 levels per night from 1-20. Not understanding what all the fuss is about. I'm more invested in my level 20 night elf hunter than I ever have been on my legion hunter. Why? Because I don't have to be raiding to feel like i'm progressing my character. Because copper and silver actually matter. Because professions feel valuable, and not just because they make you money. Because pets are actually interesting and each species is unique. Having to buy arrows? Reaching the level required to use the next tier of arrows is a milestone, and reach milestones is fun, just ask raiders/pvpers/pet battlers.

What you had in Vanilla was spread between classes. Every class felt unique, and you felt you would take on a specific role when selecting your class. Now everyone has heals, stealth, cc chains, stuns, mobility, everything. Every class is more or less the same in a different package.

I agree completely with your point of view, except one point. If they were to release BC after Vanilla has been out for a while. You should be given the option to level that char or to migrate it free to a new Vanilla server they'd set up. Prior to logging in. So you'd have to chose whether you'd want progression in a "new" expansion or continue in vanilla. Not a copy of character, but a choice of what expansion to have your character in.
@Aelendris7 жыл бұрын
Alright, i'm all for vanilla servers, but some class changes *have* to be made. Many of the specs in vanilla were simply unplayable and you'd be laughed at for even running as for instance a retribution paladin in a PvE setting. This is a monumentally difficult thing to fix, but classes/specs should be viable to play.
@potentiallyRealWarrenGraham7 жыл бұрын
Nick Hedberg you know, when you like a thing, that doesn't have to mean you like literally every aspect of that thing. Class balance is one of such things
@Aelendris7 жыл бұрын
Well Addi, that was a concise answer. Thanks for your valuable insight. The problem with not addressing any of the issues of e.g vanilla class balance is that a lot of the toxicity that existed in vanilla will return in the new legacy servers. I'd much rather have seen a burning crusade legacy server, considering they did a much better job there of class balance there than they ever did in vanilla.
@Aelendris7 жыл бұрын
Uncle Adolf as always that would be for the devs to decide. In my opinion it should just be "fixed" to the point where classes are playable. Obvious broken specs should be made just viable. Let me ask you If they would decide to start the patch system in the patch where the reckoning stacks where stackable to infinity: would you really want that? They fixed that back in the day because someone oneshotted Kazzak. I'm not hoping that they will buff something to op levels. I'm saying that the community will be toxic as shit if they leave all the glaring issues of vanilla in place in regards to the specs.
@Aelendris7 жыл бұрын
Uncle Adolf the main issue I'm pointing out is that when you say that all specs have their uses the answer is: no they really do not. Prot paladins had for instance 0 use as tanks in vanilla. And it wouldn't take much tweaking for them to be actually able to e.g hold aggro.
@garneroutlaw17 жыл бұрын
At the time, it was absolutely terrible. I can't remember how many times I wished a druid or a paladin could tank an instance. It would have made the vanilla experience much better.

I agree with you Asmongold, and in addition to what you said and maybe someone else here I want to add that if they do progress into TBC after naxx, I want there to be an option to choose whether to stay on the vanilla server for an extended amount of time before it gets reset (because some of us like to take it slower than others) and another option which lets me clone my character from the vanilla server into the TBC server and play TBC and vanilla both if I wish to or just transfer my character to the new TBC server. Another thing I want to see is after each expansion, (Vanilla>TBC>WotLK) I wish that, they would clone the servers into to the expansions. What I mean is, say Naxx is done and the time has come for TBC to get released. They need to clone the vanilla server so it would actually feel like we're on the same world because if we can just go to a new server that the only difference is TBC content then that would mean we could do the AQ opening event all over again and scarab lord is available for the taking. Then again, I also understand that people have been transfering to new servers before just to get that so maybe my opinion is weak. I've been dying for vanilla experience ever since TBC but now after private servers I know that I wish to play Vanilla, TBC and WotLK. So I wish I could do that and not have to relevel up everytime to rerelease a legacy server because that would be no different than one private server taken down and forcing myself to play on another. I strongly agree with the no battle.net integrated opinion, but I do want there to be a stronger system of security because back then we had username and password only. There is so much more I want to say but man I know it's not up to me or any of us and for the last 7 years blizzard have fed me and many of us a spoon full of sparkling crap so I can't really expect to be satisfied. But I do hope that they will take into account things that would not impact the game but the experience.

@sorgosh91817 жыл бұрын
I totally aggree with you and I'm on the same level as you "not willing to even have the 'loot bug' to be fixed at all. But then again, after playing on different vanilla projects such as Nostalrius, Kronos(was a Nost Refugeee :/), Elysium and recently on Light's Hope, I can't stress enough that a flat 1.12 client will alter the original vanilla experience greatly because of how itemization and certain combat mechanics were altered in later patches in Vanilla. I have seen some people have been already discussing this matter on US forums, and I have tried to stress it on EU forums aswell. When we talk about Vanilla, we're so accustomed to refer to 1.12 client because of all the private projects; but at the end of the day, we need to discuss what defines Vanilla. Because of all the class/combat/itemisation/threat changes that are made during vanilla, makes it kind of hard to determine which patch would be the best to start off. On all the 1.12 private projects, lets face it, Nost/Elysium has the best functioning core so far, but even though they have pretty well-emulated core and all the progressive itemisation throughout the timeline, they still fail to offer a "true vanilla" progression pace. Because of that fact, if Blizzard ever decides to go for a flat 1.12 patch, which I doubt they would; but lets say they did, that will simply mean that there will be an alliance guild *cough* GRIZZLY *cough* will clear Molten Core within a couple of weeks of the initial launch. Then when BWL comes out, all the guilds will rush through it, and I expect it to be cleared within a couple of hours after it is released. Same with AQ40 and Naxx. Anathema's realm first Naxx clear was like 2 days? Something like that. Hell even my guild will be able to one shot MC/BWL and possibly AQ40. But then again, I don't see why Blizzard would ever go back to some crappy patch in Vanilla, and decide to progress from there because it does not contain reworked threat reduction, or Haste/Slow, or some other class changes, aswell as other itemisation changes etc. Because I'd expect them to pick the most bug-free patch to begin with. Because of this, I think we should focus on discussing this issue, rather than all the pointless bullcrap being discussed on the Classic forums all over again: QoL upgrades, LFR/LFD, Transmogrification, Fucking Achievements, Sharing mogs on classic to live, The pointless idea of balancing "underperforming" classes/specs, Even fucking arenas in vanilla and so on...

My feeling is similar, they should release a new vanilla server every year and progress that one forward through the games patches so you have a staggered progression of servers. So you could recapture that old nostalgic feeling.

I would like to see them do two different servers for vanilla. The first server could be a purist server were nothings changed including the graphics or bugs( including those awesome flight paths 😬). The next server for vanilla could borrow the RuneScape idea , where they take the communities thoughts and ideas to a votes. The polls would show if the majority of the people want to change the graphics or whatever was getting voted on. The change would be very unfortunate for the people who don't want any change in the game but that is what the purist server would be for.

I started playing WoW during Vanilla open beta. But this was my first ever MMORPG. I had no idea how the game worked. I really didnt know about party composition other than 5 players max. Didn't play a single raid. Never understood pvp (i still dont lol). And my first character ever, my tauren druid, was just a noob stumbling from dungeon to dungeon. Then i took a little wow break. Played City of Heros. Learned all the party roll mechanics (tank, dps, heals, control). Then came back for Burning Crusade. At this point I understood the game. So, with that starting experience, i have been wanting for long the chance to go back to vanilla with what i now know about the game, and take that initial challenge again. And that day is finally coming. Maybe i wont devote myself entirely to Vanilla servers and forget about the new xpac. But for sure i will take the time to run through old azeroth and experience the game with new eyes.

I personally fall into the "you think you do, but you dont" crowd. I think Ion meant that our memories of vanilla are so fond because of the people we played with, not because the game was so great. And what they have said in Blizzcon was that they wont be running 2 mmos, but they had a breakthrough into how exactly to arrange this. So here's what I think: they probably found a way to make the game work as it was, with no LFG for example, but still with newer server technologies, like for example the layering where the people you see around you may not be on the same instance of the map. So they got to a point where they are satisfied it will be close enough to original, but still not how it was. Which makes me wonder a couple things. Back in the day, one of the things that really brought my guid together was doing simple things that required cooperation, like BFD. I have this really fun memories of having to get the group done and walking to the map, doing pvp on the entrance just to get everybody through the corridor and to the instance door. I remember things like getting the ppl closer to 60 in my guild to hold barricade on the beach to get the ppl through the pvp. I remember group preparation involved clearing out inventory at the bank and getting an inventory full of arrows just to not run out of them in the instance. Those things were great. But there were also things that pushed my buttons like when you had to sit for hours in a simple quest because too many people were doing it. The obvious solution was to group the people aorund you, but sometimes the ppl just didnt want to group up, which in my own opinion led more often then not to community rifts rather than bring it together. Then there is the zone scaling they are bringing on to the old world. Was that part of the break through they had? For me, personally, if they let some of the new server technologies leak into Classic, like being able to share kills, having the zone scaling so you dont have to abandon all quests and move so often, or having the map layering so we dont get the lag we had in Bloodscalp in 2004 its fine. Sharing kills and not having to leave maps was exactly what I wished for in 2004, see? Then, leave all else untouched: like the world pvp hanking systems that kept the city invasion raids going, no automatic grouping for instances, the same skill system, having to capture and train pets, the need to always have arrows, the need to meet and talk to people. That, for me, would be classic enough, I'm hoping thats what they meant by "not running 2 mmos". Unfortunatelly though, I think what you were hoping for was that they would run 2 mmos. Now the new models and what not, that's mostly client side, which begs the question: are they going to run old models for characters and everything else, or are they going to re-make the old maps that were torn apart in cataclysm to fit for newer character models? Newer models wouldnt bother me at all, because the experience would still be there.
@Moonshainu7 жыл бұрын
They should include the new models but they should also make a button in the options menu so you can turn it on or off. Don't really know how difficult that would be but it would be nice.

I agree 100% with all of this but sadly Blizz has stated that they will be doing some slight changes to either the talents or late game gear to the hybrid classes so they aren't pigeon-holed into a healing roll for raiding. They also just released an update a few weeks back saying that they will be booting the game up in 1.12 so everything will be available at launch which is pretty unfortunate because I was ready to do the massive server-wide AQ event again. So sadly it won't be "pure" classic wow. I'm still going to play the shit out of it though.

Personally one change I would really like is shared group loot of quest items. Leveling in vanilla with friends is always a great experience but when I played with my friends on nostalrius/elysium we always had to kill twice the amount of enemies so both of us got the quest drops we need. I think it would also encourage group play in the community since quest drops would be shared in groups. Although if Blizzard would just keep the server as is I wouldn't mind too much. I'm just happy we are getting an official legacy server. No more childish admins that do backdoor deals. No more shutdowns due to cease and desists. I can keep my characters.

I agree with you in that they should basicly not change anything. But there is one thing that I hope they change. And that is the respawn-rate of quest mobs. Because if you started a new char at lvl 60 on a server with a lot of people you could literally wait for 10-15 min just to get 1 mob for your quest. And that was so much aids. So unless they start like 100 Classic server, that will be a problem.

Many if not all private servers use the 1.11 talent system, before that actual patch is released. Another thing I'm wondering is, after Classic, there's TBC and at the end of TBC we got achievements. If and only if they will release TBC legacy servers after while, how will this work with your current achievements?

Also they had confirmed in that interview that they'd just started on Classic recently so a more reasonable time frame would be Classic doesn't release until sometime with the expansion that follows BfA (Battle for Azeroth). Depending on how much of the old game server data and such they do actually still have on hand, of course.

I'm DEFINITELY coming back for Vanilla. So pumped! Haven't played since BC.

I agree with everything except for the TBC/WOTLK part, in my opinion, when TBC gets released, you can get a exact copy of your vanilla character on the TBC server and play that if you want while still having your 60 character on the vanilla only server, or something like that

The only thing I would like to see change is increasing the population cap on servers to like 5000 or so, I think back then it was about 2500 and I just think if they raise the cap then groups will be much easier.

I just loved the adventure part and the leveling process of vanilla and bc. I loved the pre-Cata zones which I miss dearly.

I didn't start with vanilla though I did hear nothing but the hype of vanilla and wrath when leveling and starting WoW. I am quite excited to see how this all is going to be, though the only thing I would like to see is that the QoL update would be to graphics of vanilla I get the nostalgic feeling. I'm included in this, but people have made computers for their WoW experience to be better, which is only one concern but I think it will be interesting to see none the less.

Might be cool to be able to choose your patch in the Character Creation screen, with to possibility to go forward if you'd like to by talking with Chromie in Stormwind or Orgrimmar. Might add some goals to unlock a jump in time, like defeat the current raid(s) and clean every dungeons or win 100 matchs in PvP or pay some Gold Pieces or win the Celestial Tournament, idk. But gating something that way... Might as well give freedom to the player and let him/her set his/her own goals. Not sure about the rotation. Some people just want to stay in WotLK forever and kill everything with a new unbalanced class, and I can't stop them for doing so. It'll take a lot of realms to do something like that, but I guess phasing is a thing now with the new PvP/PvE trigger system. Do the same thing for each patch, phasing players who aren't in the same content layer (And maybe multiple realms for popular ones) and you got yourself a lot of happy people. Then, there's the guilds. And here comes the communities. One community per patch, add 2 numbers next to the player name and guilds could be multi-patch proof. As for the new models, I think there's already an option to turn them off, so I would'nt mind having them in older patchs, specially if I'm the only one who can see it. Might ruin the immersion for some, but you can just keep the old models if you want to. And without a doubt, some classes/races won't be available pre-release. Can't have Tiger-Pandas in a 40 man MC run, we all remember the 10th WoW anniversary. Oh, and uh. Keep the BoA system please. I want to loot that sweet Zulian Tiger and ride it like a timewalking champ with my Speedy Racer Goggles xmog. kthxbai. (jk)

I hope that with raids like naxx we can get the weapons and armor on the classic server and it would give us the transmog options on the real servers.
