There’s a book series I read when I was a teenager called Pendragon, and in the fourth book, there was a realm they were trying to save that was a deserted and dystopian world that had these pyramid-like mega centers where people are just hooked into a virtual reality program called Lifelight. The food supply was pretty much just an injection of synthetic paste due to society’s abandonment of reality and was just barely enough to sustain everyone. Everyone was pretty much addicted to Lifelight and when pulled out of it, they would go crazy. The entire plot of that book was centered around destroying Lifelight in order to save the society of that world from the brink of collapse. Super crazy how close to reality that book might actually come to.

Text took a huge amount of time to get right in image generation because it kept trying to "paint" the letters instead of printing them. You shouldn't have a brush-stroke when creating text, but it still occurs atm.

There's always metadata to source. Especially when it's generated through the program it would be built into it. Now faking metadata in the future could be real which is where the real problem is and that wouldn't be bad for only ai things

@@zillionfurball1451 Which is why we need built in AI signatures embedded within the actual image, not the metadata. Unfortunately theres a lot less ROI on safeguards than Innovation.

Seriously though, its like they magically forget every single month just how much shittier AI was the month before it. Like only a couple years ago ai art was just those sites that would give you 9 squares that had just some blurry basic drawing any child could have made and most of the time not one of the 9 was what you even were looking for, the idea that there would be something almost human moving around like that would have been called science fiction by pretty much everyone.

I mean...it's getting better but anyone who is not high or overtired and doesn't need corrective lenses who is also missing their corrective lenses can still tell it's fake pretty quickly. The shadows are still horrible, they move weirdly and lighten or darken without any "lighting" changes (watch the strand closes to our view on the first girl and its shadow or the mic's shadow over time, or watch her hand that's off-screen for most of it and the bizarre shadow that comes into frame briefly when the hand does), faces contort ever so slightly in unnatural ways, fingers are correct in number but not in knuckle shape, size, or consistency, the nails are very inconsistent, patterns that should be symmetrical aren't, the mic on the first one shifts in ways inconsistent with video compression, background lines shift slightly out of sync as the "camera" moves, blah blah blah. Every time someone's touting how good it is, it's still just bizarre...this might fool a few more people, but we're well past the threshold of fooling idiots and a long ways away from the threshold of fooling perceptive people. These would be usable in commercials though, so we could just do away with that gateway for new actors altogether.
@tee42224 ай бұрын
Long way my ass. A year ago they couldn’t make anything even resembling real fingers. They couldn’t get limbs to bend the right direction. Everything you mention will be figured out before you know it. You’re acting like we’re decades away when a couple years ago this didn’t even exist. You’re just the opposite end of the doomsayer spectrum.
@tee42224 ай бұрын
“Getting better” as if it’s not 100x better than just a year ago. As if they could even make hands look like hands at all last year. The progression in a single year is astounding. Unless by “a long way off” you mean a few years at best. This is just the opposite end of the doomsayer spectrum.
