One thing that stuck out at me was when they announced no blood mages in veilguard (I think they wanted to add it in maybe as dlc but not sure) because of the (and I quote) “ethical murkiness of using the blood of others”. When I saw that quote I screamed “THAT’S THE WHOLE POINT OF DRAGON AGE!” That’s the biggest insult this game has, the fact the team didn’t have a damn clue about what made dragon age great, the murkiness the morally grey choices you could make or that characters were flawed. Varric said it best in inquisition “we are all terrible, fundamentally flawed each in a hundred different ways. That’s why we are here, to do the bad things so good people don’t have to” I know I butchered it a bit but something like that. That lack of understanding was just as big a contributor to this failure than the dei grandstanding.

One of the first big missions you get when you arrive in the citadel is to go after Saren. You really feel hasted to do that mission ASAP but then there's like 20 sidequests first (if you don't you are locked out of them). Your companion missions you pick up along the way are (petty) personal and family related issues (Tali and Wrex) while the galaxy is under threat. However, that is not the issue people have. It's the bad writing that goes along with it in DAV.

If an audience or potential audience have written a piece of media off, at any time before or after release, is entirely the fault of its creators. They didn't know their audience, so the audience abandoned the game. Simple enough. Any real person would accept accountability for that. If BG3 stands for Dragon Age: Origins, You basicaly compare Origins with Veilguard... BG3 was in early access (first act), no romances, and devs talked about choices You can make. In Dragon Age Veilguard devs most of the time talked that all companions are pansexuals and can be romances with every character, before game came out. It makes negative comments before release... And damaged DA reputation.

The problem is not "gay characters", the problem is horridly written gay characters. i remember watching that non binary scene and just being so annoyed with the girl complaining calling her mom horrible for "not understanding" while the mom the actively trying to understand her but im suppose to believe that the nonbinary creature is in the right.

In case you didn't play the game, their mom is actually not very understanding at all. Both their arcs is basically to come to an understanding with that & each other. It's not very well-done imo, but that's the intention.

i played: Dragon Age The Veilguard. and i stopped playing when Taash thought her pronounce were more important than the ELVEN GODS AND BLIGHTED DRAGONS! we had to fight. i also dont know ANY of the characters but apparently ROOK knows ALL of them. i mean who the fuck are any of these people? why dont i get to know who they are as the player. i also just kept waiting for something to happen, and didnt really feel like anything did. just fairly mediocre story and repetitive and BORING enemy models and combat. it SUCKED.
