Within the last few months I went with some friends to an extremely expensive restaurant with $100 steaks and ordered - medium rare, and for me it was good steak, but at the price and how much you actually got, I didn't see the big deal of how expensive it was for 1 steak when I could have 50 days worth of steaks, at 1 steak per day Asmon metric for the same price.

if the pan is a stainless steel pan, you need to pre heat the pan until it smokes. Then, once the pan starts to smoke turn the heat to medium low. give it a minute to cool, and add oil or butter or both. And you should be able to cook in the pan and have minimal clean up.
@exan6970

Here's a tip, to use less fat and make it faster: -Use oil instead of butter and raise the temperature on the stove. Also put spice on the meat in while it's still in the box it came in, no extra dishes. To save time clean the pan straight away, everything comes off much easier. I prefer boiling potatoes, just let them simmer for 30 minutes, set a timer and play some games while waiting. (You can boil a batch of potatoes for the whole week)

it's pretty simple actually, he just doesn't want to waste time. the time wasted cooking a good food / cleaning doesn't return as much happiness as the time he spent playing games and streaming. Now, most people with money will hire a house maid to take care of their shit, but he also doesn't want someone else come to his (mother's) house, which also understandable and this is the result of those choice he made.

If you deglaze at the end with your sauces (maybe balsamic vinigar added) AT THE END you can scrape up the burnt bits from the initial sear AND create a fat for dressing your potatoes at the end. Again, a decent chunk of liquid at the end and cook it down and you don't have the cleaning problem any more and you gain points on the cook job. No new problem, but increased benefit, AND NO NEED TO SOAK PAN OVER NIGHT.

see, you don't even come close to being able to reach the parasite levels of the dude in this footage. your brain is unable to comprehend the situation and the options available. if you wanted to go full-blown parasite mode, instead of 2 steaks and say 3 potatoes having to be cooked 3 times a day, you'd cook multiple steaks and potatoes at once. say 18 steaks and 27 potatoes. and then you can eat them however you like. either 2 steaks and 3 potatoes 3 times a day, or 3 steaks and 4.5 potatoes twice a day, or you can even go full parasite mode and eat the full 6 steaks and 9 potatoes once a day at 1AM. and reuse the same plate over and over again for the whole 3 days. so in the end, that's 1 pan cleaning, 1 plate for the steaks, 1 baking dish for the potatoes, and 1 plate that you'll eat from. and just leave everything on the kitchen counter. boom, you just reduced the pan cleaning by 90% from 9 to 1 and plate usage by 75% from 9 to just 2. and you removed the fridge from the equation and reduced microwave usage by 100% since they're already at perfect room temperature. apparently buddy says that he likes jerky, so don't worry he'll have his own homemade jerky. the steak by the end of the second day will be somewhere in between a steak and jerky, and will be well into jerky territory by the third day. just don't go over 3 days otherwise the stuff might start to go bad. although it's a thin ass dried up piece of steak and some potatoes, so nothing that will get you sick. probably even build up resistance over time and eventually be able to go 4 and 5 days without even noticing it. so yeah, you gotta put yourself in the mind of someone that lives like a parasite. how would he do things? how can he maximize the parasite lifestyle?

I bought a package of paper plates before covid, use them every day, and I'm maybe 1/3 of the way through. For a steak or other wet or greasy food, I eat it out of the container it was cooked or sold in. If I cooked steak, I'd eat it straight out of the skillet, wipe it down with a used napkin, and put that sucker back on the stove for next time.
