@@KirstaRunner That's not actually true. I know that everyone likes to *say* that so that they don't just seem like a hater, but factually it's entirely false. DEI isn't just about requiring having different characters, because games always had that anyway. Look at the 3 characters from the original 1997 Diablo - Warrior was a white dude, Sorcerer was a black dude, and Rogue was a white chick. The larger part of what DEI requires is that these characters stories be based around their identities, i've heard this be reffered to in the racial context as "making characters authentically black". So for example Bishop from X-men wouldn't qualify as "authentically black", because his story is all about time travel and nothing even remotely to do with his skin colour. DEI mandates the centering of these "diverse character's" identities in stories, and that's why they suck, because the only story that can come out of something like that is how "oppressed" they are by others, which leads us right back to preaching the progressive message.

I don't think role queue can work in this game. There is just too much viability in different team comps, and the roles themselves are diverse. Duelists don't just DPS, they also frontline, burst, or have strengths in their utility. Vanguards don't just tank. They hold space, shoot from a distance, or dive past the frontline. The roles are not static, a 2-2-2 split is not plainly optimal, and fights don't always play front to back. People adhering to these mindsets are actually holding the meta back. Mr. Fantastic is a wake up call from the devs to break that mindset.

Rivals doesnt need role queue, it needs more options for vanguard and strategist picks. Right now the duelists outnumber the other two classes combined, at this point even if you want to play tank or healer you only have a couple options to choose from. Compared to duelists who can pick a dozen to practice with and still have more options.

Unless I'm getting focused by other dps I'm not gonna die and even then I just sit behind the wall till I get healed. As Spiderman you can sit behind walls where nobody can see you jump out do 4 attacks kill any 250 to 300 health character then immediately go back to an area where the enemy can't get to you. The point is with 3rd person there's a lot more cheesy exploits you can do. It was such an issue in destiny they literally disabled anything 3rd person in pvp.

The real final 1.0 launch wasn't until the fantastic four drop, that's why they are calling it season 1 and it is nearly triple the length of season 0. What would be awesome is if the cosmic level characters made random appearances on maps that altered it mid-way through... Like an apocalypse event. A large benfit of having an established world is even if this game has 200 heros. If you came in as a new player and you see a Punisher, you know he is going to shoot you, Spiderman is going to swing around, Capt is going to be in your face with a shield. Sure some will be a little more obscure, but loading up you can almost always figure out the rough estimate of what a character will be just by who they are.

@ there was only 2 characters i wasnt really familiar with. Jeff and Luna snow. Kits might not have been what i entirely expected along with Adam Warlock. But it only take seeing them in action to almost immediatly understand what they are doing. Time will fix the rest of the learning. Games like League have 140+ champs and even if you get killed by them you might not realize what they actually do.

95% of my solo queue games ends up with two tanks, two healers and two DPS. Occasionally we may end up with 3 dps and 1 tank, and often people swap off if we're struggling. For this reason, IMHO we don't need role queue at all, if anything it restricts freedom for wacky strategies and teams. Even if you enforce role queue, bronze games are still going to be utter trash with people having no idea what they are doing.

No joke, I started playing yesterday whilst I have literally no interest in superheroes, haven't played Overwatch or any hero shooters in like 10 years...BUT from the first match it just clicked INSTANTLY! Still have to learn the team combo's and team composition and I haven't reached lvl 10 yet for comp, but I'm ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!!! This game is a threat to hero shooters, cause it takes the best of all of them with unique mechanics like dedicated roles and team combo's!

Seems to me like Rivals has men, women, and people from different ethic and racial backgrounds. People are making far too big a deal over it. The main issue, as I see it, is not the inclusion of a diverse cast - many games have that - it's the manner in which that is shoehorned into a game in a way that is unnatural and off-putting, overshadowing the game itself which has been the biggest problem. It's making decision that focus on DEI to the detriment of what should be the primary focus of the game's development. Same goes for movies and TV shows really.

NGL, Marvel Zombies would be a great alternate game mode that could either be PvP or PvE. For future characters, it doesn't matter if we can already anticipate who's joining the game, we don't know what their kit is going to be, how good or how bad it'll be. Personally, I'm interested to know how authentic their kit is gonna feel as a character. Will Iceman be surfing through the air passively with his ice? Will Pyro be a hard counter to Human Torch? Will they properly showcase Gambit's and Cyclops' close quarter combat skills? On top of that, it's so refreshing to see and know how up-to-date these characters are, based on what's going on with the comics, unlike most games featuring superheroes/villains, such as Venom actually being a hero in a video game. With regards to the number of available characters in the game creating a barrier for entry, while it's likely to be true that it'll hinder entry for new players, trying to figure out who to main, etc. I believe that there will still be a large number of players that will not care about that. If say Marvel Rivals has 150-200 playable characters and a few of them being someone's favorite hero, it won't be a question for them who to main. Especially since maining their favorite hero would feel amazing cause Rivals does a good job emulating how the hero feels when played. It doesn't feel limiting, despite knowing (as a fan) what the hero is truly capable of, unlike a lot of superhero games, such as Gotham Knights' Red Hood primarily focusing his combat with guns when he's a master combatant that beats Nightwing. Finally, Marvel Rivals is a threat, yes. Towards games/companies that are set in their old ways and greed. Marvel Rivals, however, if anything, will be an upstanding game that should be aspired to be by future games. If Rivals' success continues in the years to come, it's only natural that there will be future games that will follow what Rivals is doing in terms of listening to their community, their marketing, etc.

I think it’s just a perfect storm. The timing is really good because other fps are fatiguing people. Zero woke bs in the game is a huge plus for normal people. It’s Marvel, which is very relatable and there hasn’t been a really good Marvel movie in years. It’s very competitive but with unique skills no two heroes are the same and it’s free with only cosmetics purchases. No pay to win. It’s just a perfect storm of good ideas and no bad ideas so far.

About role queue - it was introduced into Overwatch, after 3 tank - 3 support meta became dominant. It became dominant, because Bridgette, was hard countering most close range dps, that were hunting healers. People shifted to long range dps, and 3 tank dive comp became an answer to that. When 2-2-2 became a thing, people realiser that double shield is a way to go, since it's kinda hard to deal with with only 2 DPS, so Blizzard removed one tank from the roaster in OW2. None of this changes to core mechanics were necessary, if Blizzard would simply balance their game properly and in tamelly manner. But you know what's the best part to all of that? Rivals already has solution for every situation mentioned above. It's called bans. In high enough ranks of competitive games each team has an option to ban 2 heroes. Someone is warping a meta like Hawkeye or Hela in season 0? Just ban them, until devs roll in a nerf. It's so simple, yet brilliant, I can't wait to see when Overwatch will steal it for themself.

This is just my theory but since rivals is made by a Chinese company and Dota 2 is pretty big in China I wouldn’t doubt some devs play Dota and got inspired by Dotas captain Mode in ranked (players choose to ban I think up to 6 heroes ? 3 for each team) and so they implemented that in rivals ranked

Ive put in almost 200 hours now and the game is honestly extremely frustrating when support ults are farmed every fight and you literally cannot kill anything while they’re up. There is a very short time frame to kill anything in the game at higher levels. I’m talking about GM+. Its very boring to play into and I’m genuinely getting tired of it. Marvel characters the fact there's literally nothing else out that's good right now and the fact they're sexualizing these heros. Js having teenagers half nuts with big asses is disgusting. Server stability issues are literally insane. Im on ethernet with gig down and up and can't get into a lobby with less than 90 ping. 3rd person peeking and certain characters being able to spawn camp other characters because of 3 peeking is annoying. 30+ dollars for a legendary skin 20+ for an epic. 5 bucks to change your name. Id definitely say their greedy. Its cool having 30+ heros. Till you get around platnium and only see around 10 to 15 characters at most. Then diamond bans a bunch of them so you only see around 10. Tournaments already have cheaters. Certain character skins having big outfits but small hitboxes. Yeah there's gonna be an unlimited roster but as people play they care about winning more so they people they pick are just gonna become meta picks because those heros are just better. The reality is this is the honey moon phase. People are happy they can play their favorite superhero. Once they realize they're gonna have to pay 20+ for their favorite skins, when servers don't get fixed, when cheats become more available when metas are established and don't get balanced its gonna be exactly where overwatch is.

MR is far more user friendly than OW. OW has such dedicated roles that people get frustrated being locked in. MR strategists can still do damage, they can make big plays that feel impactful and are actually fun to play. You can also switch off if its not working. Dedicated roles in OW is why people played so much Moira, it was absolutely awful for non hyper-competitive players to be stuck in a roll that is negatively impacting the match.

13:52 gameplay experience is COMPLETE different you nailed it. Ever since rivals came out Overwatch lobbies has gotten considerably more sweaty & try hard. I went back to play with a friend the other day immediately got off after 1 game. To play rivals which I had a far better experience

The too many characters thing doesn’t make sense. I’m a person that doesn’t like melee characters so just right there probably half of the characters I’m not using. Not only that but the kits for characters are fairly simple so just a few minutes playing a character you’ll notice things that work and things that don’t. I mean right now I can think of 20+ characters that they could add and be amazing. Every game will die off eventually but I just can’t see it doing that anytime soon.

I think that critic was saying that Rivals would somehow run out of popular characters to add. But of course that's ridiculous, when off the top of my head I can think of 50+ popular characters that aren't in the game yet (e.g. Cyclops, Daredevil, Gambit, Vision, Ghost Rider, etc.). And when you consider adding lesser-known characters (e.g. Jeff the land shark) this game has got content lined up for years to come. My wildcard picks would be Spiral, Speedball, and Super-Skrull.

I haven’t spent a dime on marvel rivals and I was able to buy a 20 dollar skin just by doing the challenges and playing the game. You literally don’t have to spend any money on it even for your skins. They aren’t greedy at all and I think I’m gonna buy the battle pass this season just to give them some support

@ this whole video just went in one of your ears and out the other huh. Here’s a solid difference for you, these developers actually do what the players want. Good designs no politics and good gameplay. Versus a lot of other games that are an actual cash grab that don’t care about you. You didn’t hear the part in the video when he talks about us voting with our wallets? Even if nobody spent any money on the game they would still put time and effort into the game to make it good because it has so many players and they care.

Never played hero shooters, watched maybe 2 marvel movies ever. But I got 40ish hours as a grown man with a job. It’s fun, easy and I like the characters abilities. Plus no political drama or issue. Just game. Rare like hell divers for the first 2-3 weeks. Rare gaming moment

I'd still honestly like role queue in ranked; or an idea i saw some people say that I think would be better is a role lock system where there can only be 3 of any specific class. I haven't been having the same luck finding teams that work together tho and usually queue solo.
