I gotta say, my favourite thing about the mh devs, is that they are litterally leveling up their game. They started with their idea, basically their class, the systems and gameplay evolved throughout the first dozen or so games, because they realized the limitations of technology at the time and how it couldn't fully depict their idea into reality. So they perfected the gameplay, and then went for the story, developing a world outside of the hunts, giving reason to hunters and reason to monsters, they kept doing this until they had formed a cohesive universe with rules and reason. Then world came in, showing everyone what a fully built system and gameplay, a fully organized story and world, and technology for visuals and mechanics to evolve, giving birth to visual ecology, pack mentality, enviromental effects, etc. It was insane, they put all their experience together and made their idea actually come to reality for the first time since developing. And now that technology was proven, tested and improved. And the team knows what the fuck they are doing. It can only get better.

If the game's stylization was photo-realism, then it would matter, but photo-realism as a style inherently goes against the fantasy that comes with video games that are in a fantasy setting. So graphical fidelity ONLY ever matters for things like sports/racing games that are firmly grounded in the real world as we know it.

A semi-niche game series that was known for challenging, slow and methodical combat releases a new game in which everything is sped up, along with a lot of the difficulty getting culled to appease a more casual audience. Both selling respectively more copies than all previous games combined. That’s MH5 and DS3. MH6 will probably follow ER in terms of baby proofing the hell out of their game to make sure they retain their new, casual audience.
@Blueberryvibe42013 күн бұрын
@CuriosityMisledMe Topic is about MH becoming mainstream. DS3 12 million sales is not on the same level as World. That's more about what Elden Ring did. World was about 27 mil and ER 28. On the mainstream scale World and ER are comparable. And for the sake of your other argument, World was already being made to be more approachable compared to its predecessors in the same way as ER was. It was less clunky, more forgiving and offered player more solutions to solve their problems, just like ER. I love Fromsoft, but let's not pretend it's Wilds that will make MH mainstream in the same sense ER did to Souls when MH already achieved it's mainstream tag 4 years prior to Souls games

@@Blueberryvibe420 And I’m taking about the relative similarities of the series, and which two games achieved the most similar feats. Mainstream isn’t even a definitive number on paper. It’s whether or not the media garnered mass attention outside of it’s base audience.

@CuriosityMisledMe First off, if a game sells almost 30 millions copies its definitely an indicator that its mainstream. And World was that game in the franchise. I know what your are trying to point out with your argument and Im arguing against it saying that all these changes you saw from DS3 to Elden Ring was already being made from old gen MH to World. Your argument just strengthens my original post. There is a reason lots of fivers didnt vibe with Rise, there is a reason lots of old gen'ers didnt vibe with World. Saying that World wasnt mainstream is one of the silliest things I have ever heard. I had so many friends finally giving the franchise a go just because it was the popular game. As it seems right now, Wilds will just double down on the changes World already made. It will be even more approachable than World, but Im not sure it will sell more than World. And Im not sure the next Fromsoft game will sell more than ER for that matter. We'll see how the future unfolds. Edit: forgot about Focus mode, but thats like the only real new "easy mode" /QoL feature

You know humans invented the first wire frame glasses as early as the 1400s, right? This isn't just a 19th-century creation, as there is evidence of glasses even earlier than that.. For the time of the game, the side character having glasses isn't as immersion breaking as you think it is. 😅

@CuriosityMisledMe the style she is wearing is actually an old 18th century design from France, in what appears to be a wire frame. Again, not as immersion breaking as you think. With regards to main gameplay, MH is solid, i would like to see them add more engagement with the environment. Maybe a more in depth farming system than the simplistic botanist farming we had before. All I'm saying is it would be cool to go into a zone not looking for a hunt, but instead a native species that can be captured and farmed for a bit of resources, then relased back into the wild. If MH enhances the side atuff just a bit, i think that goes a long way into enhancing the overall gameplay.

The best new feature they could add to MH is that weapons give a special ability depending on the monster parts used for it. It would add so much variety and also motivation to craft weapons outside the best dps. If one has lower dps but I cool ability, people would build that weapon too. Think weapon arts Elden ring style
@lilfuzzballa12 күн бұрын
Did you see me comment this a long time ago. I've said this exact same thing many times lol. I agree, armor is in a nice spot with set bonuses and varying skills to make multiple interesting options to choose from. But weapons just come down to what has the highest DPS after calculating sharpness, raw, and element. Weapon arts depending on the monster it's from would be sick. Zinogre weapons would have a meter you build from doing damage, then drain the meter to charge up and boost element damage. or maybe Diablos weapons would all have a charging tackle that gives hyper armor and does stun damage. Chatacabra is a monster that likes to stick rocks and minerals to its arms to bolster them up and make them hit harder, so what if his weapons had an art that made you stab your weapon into the ground, and rocks would stick to it, allowing them to apply stun damage with each hit for so many hits. I could keep going, but this obviously would make choices more interesting and potentially not all about biggest number. The one good thing Wilds has done though is having innate offensive skills applied to weapons directly. So it adds at least another deciding factor on which to choose I guess.
@GodSmit13 күн бұрын
I appreciate how they're so willing to cater to what the communities want but are also willing to give their ambitions a chance in regard to what they want for the game. That being for example, with the palicos and how the players in other areas "wouldn't like them"; they gave it a chance and it worked out, and that's what we need a bit of as well. Lots of gamers are so stubborn for change but developers like this will be willing to risk things and just as willing to fix them if they don't turn out well.

Monster Hunter Worlds is literally the game that made it mainstream btw. A correction towards whoever came up with the title.

Monster Hunter on PSP was peak. I remember the good old times when we would gather at a friend's house almost every evening, getting high and enjoying the game as three.

My first monster Hunter was monster Hunter 4 back in 2013 or I got it early 2014 on my 3DS, was real fun.. I think world really brought it to the semi mainstream where a lot of real gamers in America started playing, while I think wild will bring it to a more house hold name for people that play games regularly and willing to try things will play it and think you’ll see it all over twitch and KZbin not long after it’s released.

As many other have already said MH World was the game that put MH in the mainstream. Just like Elden Ring did for Souls games, or how Persona 5 did for the Persona franchise. These games were already popular but with these titles (Elden Ring, Persona 5, MH World) they reached the bigget amount of new fans ever in each respective saga. Which is why people's expectation for MH Wilds are sky high. And the same can be said for FromSoftware next big project and Persona 6.
@weltallelite13 күн бұрын
They should have something like a Build-A-Bear Workshop but you can make a custom Palico with different options for color, eyes, ears, and tails. And then you can buy outfits for it. They’d probably have to sell for a premium, but I think a lot of fans would do it.

Do not give Capcom the benefit of the doubt, until the game is released. Capcom, like Sony, will sacrifice tens of millions of dollars and goodwill of the fans in a heartbeat just to make a few arbitrary slides look good to the shareholders. They have also become extremely hostile to modding in the last few years, so expect this to be the case in Wilds as well. Modding is what has kept MHW alive all these years.
@Silly_gooner13 күн бұрын
I thought they only hostile with SF6, other Capcom games are modded to hell tho.

World took MH in the mainstream of GAMERS , before it was just known by a big niche of people and in japan. With wilds even "casual gamer" and the people that don't play a lot are gonna approach it for sure .

@@SkyForgeVideosSame reason with Elden Ring. It doesn’t do anything new, and in a lot of cases is less impressive than it’s predecessors. But after a bit of mainstream advertising, along with internet hype spreading it’s name like wildfire; you get an influx of new players who know absolutely nothing about the game they just bought.
