As someone who has had two kidney transplants I can confirm they leave the original kidneys. Many kidney diseases only affect the kidney so there is no real reason to remove the affected kidney in most cases. It also would be a much more invasive surgery to access the original kidneys to remove them. Kind of cool to be able to say you have three kidneys. Thanks for the lovely ASMR videos!
