this suddenly got me romanticising China and Chinese culture again. way back when, I saw a movie called Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon... I seem to remember hearing or reading that the movie was somewhat tailored to "western" tastes (so maybe not authentic in some way) and it's the fantasy and martial arts genre with people flying through the air and what not (apparently not everyone's taste) but I was just captivated by every minute of that flick. also really became attached to the movie Hero with Jet Li though not as much as I was to CTHD. thanks for bringing that feeling out in me again. it's such a pleasant escape from the mundane to the exotic...

Peachymistic like that death grips mega mix, Kung Fu Hustle went over my head too. it's escapism I'm looking for folks... not something that gives me a headache. oh and a hot Chinese girl like Zhang Ziyi is a nice bonus (though Ziyi's not THAT hot)... I tend to like them (not Chinese girls necessarily... ANY girl) a little more on the plump side... but her face was (and her moves were) GORGEOUS. actually Michelle Yeoh was quite lovely in that movie too. the talent of Ang Lee, Peter Pau and Yuen Woo-ping had a great deal as well to do with how good everyone looked in that movie. delicious all of it! can't say I know too much more of Chinese or Hong Kong film stars, directors, etc beyond that and a couple other movies...
