Gonna be honest, I'm glad to see more and more atheists/agnostics who are open yet respectful of others. As an atheist, I really dislike when other atheists attack individuals. Criticize beliefs, sure. But never assault people verbally for their beliefs.
@EphemeralRift10 жыл бұрын
Amen. We all need to respect one another. That's key.
@jacoman5210 жыл бұрын
I'd say the same thing for people of faith. As a Christian, I'm encouraged when I find Christians who follow what the Bible teaches and respect people who think about life from a different perspective. I agree--having an open, critical thinking conversation can be good for everybody. But respect is a necessity! Love these videos and the tone they have. And thanks for your comment, DasKomet!

Thanks for sharing your ideas about haters/trolls and people who think they own the reigns of your content. Nothing worse than getting people who judge too quickly and comment on things they don't care to understand. Like you, I'll either ignore them, fire back in kind, or let the rest of my level-headed subscribers deal some justice.

Not sure how I missed you and your channel but I just subbed. Hard to keep track these days. I try to remain cool 99% of the time. And 99% of the folks are cool on the 'Tube. But there's that 1% that sometimes need a smack upside the head. There is nothing wrong with "managed" anger, I guess you could say. I've had anger issues all my life, mostly because of the bullshit I've been through. Now I'm trying to understand my anger. I think anger can be a good thing. It's basically a pain response. Self defense mechanism. (I'm no expert though). You stub your toe *boom* even before you know it you're angry. Your body is instinctively reacting to what it perceives is a threat. So it's the Fight response, right. Well you can stub your toe mentally too. And of course we all know about hurting someone mentally. When someone responds to us in an angry manner, even if they are pointing a gun at us, it could be a direct reflection of what we've done to them. Even as a society. People aren't born criminals. We turn them into criminals. All the violence in the world is a direct response to a lot of things we are doing wrong. Not you and I personally, but society as a whole, I think. Barring hate groups and extremists. I think we should embrace our anger but keep it managed and learn how to use it constructively and rationally. Okay sorry for the book ;) I plan on watching some of your videos over the holiday break. Thanks for chiming in.

I've been growing like a wild fire these past few months, and I've been putting in the work to get here :] I'll try not to fangirl but you are one of the Leaders in ASMR when it comes to quality, creativity, and entertainment (at least in my eye). You are also a huge inspiration/ motivation for me so it means a lot to have you check out my little group of dreamers and I, as well as joining us through our journey into the future. Trust me, I know about dealing with bullshit. I'm a veteran who used to work on fighter jets in every type of weather imaginable for 12+ hours a day getting dirty and greased all for a boss who only cared about numbers. I've come into contact with all kinds of people and, like you, over the years i've come to realize how beneficial managed anger can be. If used right, one can be more productive and resourceful at getting things done. And I've been using that ability ever since I learned it.There's a right time and place for everything, and a right and wrong way to react to things. Most people on here are genuinely nice, but yea, those 1-2% of trolls definitely need to get a good smack upside the head. I like letting my people take care of them in the comment sections. Always fun seeing trolls get handled by loyal fans. And I completely agree, we as a society create these criminals. As much as I know people are good, I can't help but say that I've noticed such a decline in society over the years. It's super sad because I know that there are so many good people out there, just trying to live and be happy. Anyways, it's a huge honor to get some insight from you and I would definitely like to have more conversations in the future. Enjoy my videos and your feedback would be super welcome! I aim to help mold and keep invigorating this community of ours. :]

Glögg is a hot drink that is based on wine or liquor with all kinds of different spices in it, the common ones being cinnamon, honey, sugar, ginger, cloves, cardamom and black pepper. Its typically red in color and people often put raisins in the cup that you can then scoop up and eat after you have finished the drink. We in Sweden drink it during christmas and it can be either with or without alcohol. I read that glögg dates back to the early 1600s from Rome, people started putting spices in wine to make it taste better. We started to drink it in Sweden back in the late 1800s. I have never seen glögg being a base for a beer, so thats new for me. Happy holidays from a Swedish atheist!

I was in serious need of something to help with my depression. I was recently diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder and I do things that I can't completely control and have been feeling really depressed about how I made a lot of enemies because I couldn't control my actions. I'm at work and a customer had lashed out at me for forgetting his military discount and thrown his crumbled up receipt at me and I lost it. I had to shut myself in the bathroom and sob for a good 20 minutes. Thank you so much ER. This was a very very helpful video for me, and to start it off with a nice hearty chuckle that escaped from me after you brought out your youtube rule book and laid down the first rule. I feel like I comment on your videos too much, but thank you! Happy festivus, Merry Christmas, and a very happy new year to you!

Since my mother is the only family I have on this side of the country, we often take in "strays" for the holidays: Other people who don't have many family members near them, neighbors, or those who have to celebrate alone. My grandma said that same thing that you said. She's been ill for a few years now and her quality of life generally makes it seem like it's not worth living, but she always used to say that if she got ill she'd like to be killed, like you say, so that she's not a burden on anyone else. Anyway she became ill and for whatever reason her wish has never come true (i'm not sure if she changed her opinion or anything) and now a lot of time is taken out of my Dad's life to care for her so it can definitely be quite tough for other family members and if you mean what you say about not wanting to be a burden then that is the most generous way you can think and people will respect you if you have that attitude.

Suicide rates, and depression rates are much higher during the winter time, not Holidays in particular. (Although, I'm sure for some people Holidays are tough) but, the reason for that is because of the weather, and how there isn't much sun, and it's always dark, and gloomy outside. Thanks for the video man :) i really appreciate how much time you put into your channel. You never fall to relax me at times i really need it.

My church friends were always a bit perturbed by the "intrusion" of Santa Claus, which they viewed as overshadowing the religious implications. I always told them that Santa Claus is the PR agent in the holiday spectrum. If he wasn't there to take the brunt of the atheist/non-Christian force, I have an idea the "war on Christmas" would have ended a while ago.

And that really goes for a lot of things even beyond religion. There's nothing wrong with the public sphere as long as it's not forced. Nothing wrong with congregating. Love your work brother. I had an idea for a future asmr video. How about securing a time bomb with a 20 minute timer. tingling sounds from cutting the cables and the audience will play the role of the second bomb squad partner! take care bro and happy holidays from Greece!

Noah Prater Well thank you. I hope you can get to see your father more often. Is there anything you can do to help or change that? You don't have to answer. :) Take care! :)

E.R, you should really consider doing a candy man 4 or a salesman video both near the fire.

I'm really interested in what you're gonna talk about in this video, but I should be sleeping already. Because the topic is too stimulating for this video to actually put me to sleep, I'm going to leave it here (at 0:08:00) and revisit the "Pocket" episode of the Couch Companion. I'll come back to this one tomorrow :)

No idea why I tohught of this, but you should check out the band Andrew Jackson Jihad. The songwriter likes talking about social issues. They're folk-punk by the way, so maybe it's a bit soft, but check them out.

I posted a comment on his Facebook wall adressing religion and politics and why he should keep it off the page, the start of the video I feel like he atleast read it and adressed it in this video, thanks ER.

Kristen Robinson He removed it. Leftists tend to like cencorship when right-wing people say anything they don't like.

I think it would actually be great if you wrote a book! You have a lot of interesting things to say and you pick up really heavy topics to talk about in your videos. I'm sure alot of people can relate to what you say (me included) and I would really believe in you writing a bestseller about maybe just human behavior or society of today. I bet you could write something that would raise a lot of questions and discussions. Anyways I think that would be great!
