You probably understand that you're taking a big risk, being outside in a thunderstorm, especially while holding an umbrella. This is a precaution we all learned as kids growing up in "Lightning Alley" of central Florida, USA. When that kind of weather is over you, there will be random strikes even when you haven't been hearing them for awhile, and even if it's not raining. Many deaths in the area I grew up in situations just like this.

yeah I understand the risks. Usually when strikes are too close, I either avoid going out or take shelter like on a previous walk that knocked out power for 50k homes for over an hour. This walk wasn't bad since the storm clouds were kinda far away.
