By request: Nucleic acids! I walk through the basic components of nucleotides, the specific difference between deoxyribose (in DNA) and ribose (in RNA), structures of all 5 bases (C, T, U, A, G)*, and how they hydrogen bond. Not only do I go over these concepts, but I also give tips on how to easily distinguish between T and U, how to recognize which base pairs will have 2 hydrogen bonds, which base pairs have 3, and help you reason through why that is. I also include reminders about the fundamental principles of hydrogen bonding.
At the end of this video I give encouraging words those of you who don’t feel like you are doing well in chemistry. Let me know how what is most helpful for you and what chemistry topics that you need. All my best wishes for a calm chemistry journey. xo
*C = cytosine
T = thymine
U = uracil
A = adenine
G = guanine
