By request: Nucleic acids! I walk through the basic components of nucleotides, the specific difference between deoxyribose (in DNA) and ribose (in RNA), structures of all 5 bases (C, T, U, A, G)*, and how they hydrogen bond. Not only do I go over these concepts, but I also give tips on how to easily distinguish between T and U, how to recognize which base pairs will have 2 hydrogen bonds, which base pairs have 3, and help you reason through why that is. I also include reminders about the fundamental principles of hydrogen bonding.
At the end of this video I give encouraging words those of you who don’t feel like you are doing well in chemistry. Let me know how what is most helpful for you and what chemistry topics that you need. All my best wishes for a calm chemistry journey. xo
*C = cytosine
T = thymine
U = uracil
A = adenine
G = guanine

Oh my you actually did it! I haven't really had the time to watch you for the last couple of months because of my finals, but after finally getting over it is soo nice take a look back at all I've done and learned. Great video, keep it up!

Yay! I'm so glad you came back and saw! After this I decided to start keeping track of who makes what requests so that I can try to go back and find them and let them know. :) How did your finals go?

@@ASMRChemistry I think I did pretty good. I had to take elevated chemistry and biology (not sure how you say it in english) to get into a med school, and looking at the solutions and think I got most of them right, so hopefully im in :) The theory part was really easy on chemistry the countings were okay as well, I literally sweat blood preparing for that part (I was never good with numbers), the biology was mostly the neuroendocrim regulation (I want to be a neurologist so that went well). The best task was when you had to guess the symptoms of 2 given poisons based on the fact that one of them messes with the sympathetic nervous system while the other with the parasympathetic. I felt like an actual doctor :D

Thank you so much these videos always have me fighting to stay awake because I'm genuinely interested in what you're talking about but your voice is so calming that I can't help but get sleepy :)

Aw @Kuroo Tetsuro - thank you! That is part of my goal, but I do understand you wanting to stay awake, too! I do have another channel that is much more energetic. Most of the videos are general science, science storytelling, or kids chemistry projects, but the ones from early/mid 2020 are college chemistry. You can find me there by searching KZbin for "Professor K Science".
