I really wish nice, quiet, peaceful salons treatments were more available in the US. It would be nice to relax during a treatment without blaring music and other noise.

I wonder if those are the usual kind of treatments in Japan though. I assume ASMR Twix has to make a deal with the shop that she's the only customer at this time, that there's no music and for it to be softspoken. She's been to well known shops so there would be a lot of customers and a lot more talking that way, so I wouldn't think the regular appointments at these places are as quiet as this. Though it's probably still a more peaceful treatment than most places.

I would love to go to a peaceful salon in the US. There’s always a lot going on around you…stylists, customers, phone calls, the door chime…it is definitely sensory overload. It would be nice to be able to book a quiet room with relaxing music, aromatherapy and no talking..unless necessary for the service 🥰

If you are in West Lafayette, IN, then go to Aveda at the Wabash Landing. They have a very peaceful atmosphere. They offer food and drinks while there.

North American salons r loud, impersonal, high pressure sales for add ONS, pressure not to complain and made to feel cheap if u suggest that maybe the style isn't what u wanted. I started to cut my own hair so that if I'm unhappy, it was free.

Same. I can do french braids, dutch braids, fish tails, etc. on everyone else's hair, but can't even do regular braids on my own lol. Usually because my arms start to burn and I have very thick and long hair.

I enjoy hairstylists who are soft spoken and who do not try to engage you in their life story or trying to find out your life story. Doing anything but focusing on the hair style. Or talking with an adjacent stylist. Loud music in the background is a big turnoff as well. North American hair stylists could take some tips from Japan hairstylists re their demeanour.

I feel like Japanese hair styles always involve the smallest touches the tiniest changes that somehow actually matter in the outcome like the initial straightening and then the curling do those steps really account for anything?? Idk lol its beautiful though

I got my hair done at a new stylist for my wedding. She put INCHES on my hair. Used an entire can of hair spray and some glue. And my husband hated how over done it was. It took two washes to be hair again. It could have stopped a bullet. Most men like soft and romantic. Touchable. Like this. It enhances her youth and beauty, but set enough to get photos done. And have a nice night out.
