I get a feeling of an answer to your character’s question -- that in this ASMR universe, I trained at Zvyozdny Gorodok and was in the same training class as William Norton, who captained the Endeavour in Arthur C. Clarke’s “Rendezvous With Rama.” Norton's father is of Australian descent and a lunar settler, while his mother is a Chinese person who lives on Earth. His middle name is Tiān, which can mean “heaven.” In the abridged BBC audio production, Norton was voiced by Richard Dillane, and I found that audio production to be superb. Also, it's kind of funny because Laila means night in Arabic, originally in the sense of someone born at night -- and when you look out the porthole, there is the ultimate form of night.
