I like how he implies that the listener doesn’t immediately calm down and think rationally, because real panic attacks just aren’t like that. It takes a hot minute to fully come back to yourself, and in the meantime everything seems like a disaster. He has the perfect response to bring the listener down from a panic attack ❤ I’ll definitely be using this in the future when my anxiety gets out of control :)

@@ph1lza381 This! The first panic attack I had, I went to the hospital after a few hours. It’s truly a disheartening and horrible experience, but having that one person or one item or one thing that calms us is so helpful.

Thank you so much. I just had a really bad panic attack. I have never thought of using asmr for relief (meaning a video which is made for relieving an attack.) You really helped me on my way home commuting from work. I been to the hospital 4 times for panic attacks so bad that I was convinced I was near death. I finally figured it out. Now when I feel it come on , I challenge it to kill me , I got to a public place , I do everything possible to make it worse and guess what? I win every time and now , what use to be a full blown attack now feels like being slightly nervous. Easily manageable , once you stop fearing the attacks they go away

I know things like this are temporary, but I can't thank you enough for guiding me through a very stressful episode. I'm not sure it was a panic attack, but as terrible as it was, it helped me cry when I knew I needed it because as much as I often hold back my emotions it often has a bad influence on my breathing. So you were both so helpful to guide me through my tears and breathing exercices. The cause of my anxiety is still very present, but at least now that's 4am and I have a presentation tomorrow that I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to finish and I feel extremely exhausted, I'm still feeling better and more grounded. I will try to drink more water too!💙

i was listening to an album and i fell asleep and i think it affected my dream significantly because im the dream i was in the exact same place, in my bed, but i was instead listening to the artists most early works but in the dream the artists most early works were actually just the most vile, painful, harshest, noisiest, pieces of audio you could imagine. at one point began the most painful piece of audio i couldn't even begin to describe and i was then completely unable to move for the rest of the dream and it was so painful and at some point i began to feel some invisible force grabbing onto me, squeezing me to death and i think biting into my neck. i then woke up now, at about 3am, completely shell shocked and i am here to calm down. one thing that terrifies me is how much it didn't feel like a dream, i think it's possible this was some sort of sleep paralysis turned up to 100.

I have been on the go for 4 days solid while my mum's been away, she is on her way back now, but I went to the chip shop whilst taking one of the dogs but forgot the drinks, was going to take the other dog all the way back to the chip shop but the little cow tried to run out into the road, I managed to pull her back before the car hit us but I decided to take her straight home after that! I then decided I would walk to the chip shop to pick up the drinks but got half way up the road and went dizzy so I turned back around and went home. That's what made me panic. But I am calming down now as I am in bed. A cautionary tale for all! Look after yourselves!

Helpful video, but just a note: The water thing. Many people coping with panic attack and panic disorder are also on water restrictions. They may be strongly cautioned to limit water intake to approx. 2 quarts/liters each day. This can be for reasons from congestive heart failure to lymphedema to... lots of conditions, including combinations of them. Talking about chugging water is a little like dangling raw meat to a lion. I've come back because that sounds harshly critical. In spite of the water, this really is helpful and I'd encourage you to do another on this topic.

I wish all doctors were as kind and patient as you! You're one of my fave YT doc, along with Cap Bailey 😀 you know, I think it's interesting you said for us to tell ourselves 'relax' because it can be hard to do something when told to (for example, 'don't think of a pink elephant', you automatically do) so what is saying 'relax' to yourself meant to do, do you know?
@thunderbirdress3302 жыл бұрын
Actually the repetition of affirmations is meant to have a positive effect on one's mind. Your example refers to the assumption that the brain has a harder time to process negative statements as we cannot 'not' think about something - in this case we have to think about something that's representative of something real and then negate it in our minds. So "relax" is a good affirmation to tell yourself. "Don't worry about this" wouldn't be as good, as you still had to think about the situation you don't want to worry about (exactly like the pink elephant example) - so it wouldn't have the desired effect.
