I found this video like 2 years ago and I didn’t know what ASMR was, but now watching this kind of videos is the only thing that helps me sleep. Fun fact: the pattern that this lady drew stuck in my head since the first time so sometimes I find myself drawing it and I love triangles so much. I even got a tattoo of it with a phrase around.

I remember a couple years ago like about 3-4 years that I found this video when looking up doodle drawings and I was like “why is she whispering and touching the paper so much” then I went on Wikipedia to search “ASMR” and after that, ASMR quickly became part of my life. I literally can’t sleep without it now 😂

just a friendly note: learned this in art school in the 1980's: Sharpie tips will not wear down if you don't apply pressure. Felt tip pens are not supposed to be pushed down on-- you just let them flow. Also, if a Sharpie dries out run it under room temperature water for a second, recap it and put it in a cup upright. You can revive them several times (provided you didn't use all the marker in one sitting, of course... which would have to be a huge drawing. LOL). By the way, the fine tip Sharpies I prefer with a bit of a warn down edge when just doodling on regular paper. For drawings (sacred geometry, Islamic designs, etc.) I prefer old school illustration pens. By the way. .. thank you for your videos. I enjoy watching you draw! :) Good luck with the Sharpies. Rehydrating Them saves a lot of money!
@chalicemagic8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tip on rehydrating Sharpies. :-) The thing is I push down hard on them to create the sounds for my ASMR videos. Of course I wouldn't do that with my fine tip markers. Also, thank for the compliment. I enjoy making these videos and it's nice to know they are appreciated.

So, my most asked question is "Why does She cut up her drawing?" Here is my answer. You have asked a very good question. For me, cutting them up is an act of meditation mingled with blissful sounds and visuals. Most of my art is a practice in non-attachment and so cutting them up is actually very liberating and has a deep sense of freedom and peace. I consider these doodles as a practice of control, coordination, composition and above all, to practice being a "Creative Problem Solver." For people to use art as a safe expression to overcome, figure out new ways to look at problems, they can take this skill and apply it to other areas of their life. This is what I do for myself and if others can learn this from my sharing of these techniques then we are one step closer to being a positive change in our world community.

First, I like the concept of ASMR, even if I not totally confortable with some sounds. I think that helps with so many stressful times. Also, love the drawings ;D Back in topic, you're right, I would never understand why people that doesn´t like something couldn't just go away instead of sputtting an opinion about something that don´t know, like or ever understand. Is not like they are stuck with a publication or video like an old tv that has an only channel! There is the entire internet universe to look in order to find something they like.

Most of my art is a practice in non-attachment and so cutting them up is actually very liberating and has a deep sense of freedom and peace. But I have stopped cutting them up as it was making too many people upset and that is the opposite of why I was making these videos. One thing, too, I'd like to say is that this is great... You cutting up the work after it's done... You know, just reading the comments of people in an outrage over you cutting up your work - it's quite intriguing. Humans are so possessive and so collective. We need to learn to let things go. There is so little time that we will be on this earth and who's to say what happens to our stuff after we pass. There is no guarantee that the information we put in this world will not be lost, forgotten, or destroyed. So why spend your whole life, collecting and obsessing over your possessions? Just a thought.

thats the weird thing.. I am only 16, so I can't recall feeling ASMR too much. I have vague memories of feeling it, but in my memories I can't connect the feelings to the sounds. Since this video, I've been exploring different ASMR videos, but this kind seems to be to most relaxing/triggering. Though, whenever I used sharpies, I never paid attention to the sound so it didn't trigger me. So strange what happens when you notice the little things :P Thank you!

@chalicemagic10 жыл бұрын
Actually that is a great question. You can do either or both. Some people have ASMR triggers that are visual, some people have triggers that are auditory and some like both at the same time. I have come here to try to join a conversation relating to this video that is 3 months old. Here is the quote from Sophie that replies to a comment: "To Carly Frankham, whos says the following: "Ummm excuse me... "making a mess is what art is all about" is completely wrong. You are not an artist. art is about creating something that provokes an emotional response from the audience. art always has meaning and serves to make a statement or such in todays society. you could say making a mess is what craft is all about ..." I think my art evoked a pretty strong emotional response with you. My opinion is that art is all about self expression. If it creates an emotional response from the viewer, that is their option." I am an artist and would like to add to understanding. First, "making a mess" is not usually what art is all about [though perhaps you meant it in some particular way.] At the same time art is not necessarily about "creating something that provokes an emotional response." either. It may or it may not. Dialog about "what is art?" is very good, though. Here is how I understand it: "aesthetic" is the opposite of "anesthetic." That is, "aesthetic" is a heightened SENSORY experience and "anesthetic" is the lack of sensory experience. Art connects to people's nervous systems. For some people that connection is emotional but often it is not. EVERYONE'S NERVOUS SYSTEM IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT so there is a vast, vast array of ways that people experience art through their bodies. A good question for artists to ask themselves about their art is, "How many senses can I delight with my work?" I had never heard of ASMR when I found this video and I have rarely experienced anything similar to what you describe here. Nevertheless, I felt that I understood what you were doing with your art even though it might not be powerful for me. Good on you. If a person mainly connects to art through emotion, fine, but if you can let go of the emotion long enough to discover the additional sensory experiences that artists build into their work you will find amazing new worlds. Thank you.

Dear ASMR Friends, I just got done reading a post that brought me to tears! It was from a woman who watches my videos and finds great healing in them. I am so honored to be part of this amazing woman's healing process. I make these videos initially because they helped me find my calm space within, a place where I can find calm and peace, release my stress and to function on a higher vibration. And to know that these videos are helping so many others do the same thing, I can hardly find the words to express my unbound gratitude. I so appreciate hearing these messages, they keep me so motivated to keep making these videos and also counter the evil troll messages I get from time to time. In closing, this most extraordinary woman said this, "since I can't leave the house anymore, youtube has saved me many times from just quitting. You have been a part of that. Thank you." Everyone, Keep heart and know that where we are right now is the NOW Moment, the only time we have. Hold tight to who you are, breath in a higher vibration, breath in the courage to take the next step into the next NOW moment, Breath in love, breath in the knowing that you are making a difference in this world, because you are.

First and for most, this is an ASMR video that I happen to be doodling in. All the sounds and length of them are set up to create triggers for people who experience ASMR. If you aren't one of the very few that do feel it, this type of video will drive you nuts! I totally get it. :-) My husband doesn't feel this sensation and my creating and listening to them makes him crazy and he can't understand why I do it, LOL! So, if you are in it for the Doodles, please just turn down the volume, put on some music you like and doodle along.

Okay, watching this was one of the weirdest experiences for me. I expected nothing, but yes, I'm definitely feeling something, scalp tingly, especially when you run your hands across the paper. I had never heard of ASMR before, so I looked it up. Turns out I've been reacting strongly to paper noises for years and I didn't even realize. I suppose it makes sense, because I've always found ocean waves to be relaxing, and it's a similar sound. The head touching, I've definitely had that for a long, long time, and known it. So, something new and weird and enjoyable I discovered about myself today. Thanks!

+GodRise I whisper because some people fine it relaxing. All the ASMR videos are about creating trigger sounds or visuals that stimulate responses of well being, bliss, relaxation and a host of other joyful expressions, including a tingling sensation in the head, neck and throughout the body. Only a small percentage of people are triggered by these sounds and visuals. Which makes everyone else wonder why on earth we are listening and watching them. Do you ever hear sounds that make you feel relaxed? White noise, people talking in the distance, repetitive sounds? Did your parents ever read books or tell you stories until you fell asleep? Did the sound of their voice make you feel safe and comfortable and it didn't really matter what they were saying...and you gently drifted off to sleep? Other sounds include drawing sounds, brushing, rubbing, tearing, tapping, crinkling, crushing sounds. I really enjoy the relaxing sounds of walking on dried leaves and pebbles as I walk through the park. Sometimes people are triggered by visual images as well. Like watching someones hands doing something repetitive, like squishing clay or making something. For others the trigger is a deep since of connection with someone, which includes lots of eye contact, soft speaking and/or whispering and being payed attention to in detail. So, many of these videos revolve around role playing such as personal grooming, hair cutting, shampooing hair, applying nail polish, giving a massage or facia or even, doing a personal exam, like an eye or ear exam. Do you experience this sensation? What are your ASMR triggers? Are they more auditory or visual or both? Many people have felt this since childhood and thought that either they were the only one or that perhaps everyone experienced this. It seems that only a fraction of humanity that experiences this phenomenon. Here's hoping you are one of the lucky ones.

I would need you to tell me in what time zone you live in and what timeframe you can join in. ie: morning, day, or evening. Payment is through Paypal, to be payed before the class starts. We meet on Google+ Hangout. You'll need a camera on your computer so we can see each other's drawing. You'll need to have your materials ready before we start so you can draw with us. Materials: Drawing pad or computer paper, or sketchbook and Sharpie markers or Micron markers or even ballpoint pen if that's all you have. Also, pencil and eraser if you want. I start the classes with showing patterns and teaching you how to make them. We draw boxes in our sketchbook for each pattern and use them for a reference when you are doing your doodling. Once we have several patterns established, we can move forward with larger doodles. Depending on the patterns, questions asked, and how long it takes everyone to complete their designs, we should be able to learn several patterns in each class and start on a project to work on until the next class. You are welcome to share your doodles on my Face Book page. If you have any other questions, just ask.

(ASMR) Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response is a term used to describe a sensory experience characterized by a pleasant tingling sensation in the head and scalp, which can be triggered by sounds like whispering, crinkling, rubbing or brushing, and visual stimulus like cutting, painting or drawing.

Do you experience ASMR through the audial or visual or both from viewing/listening to ASMR videos? I've been having a conversation with a subscriber about people that have written to me about getting the tingles by exclusively watching the visual aspects of ASMR videos as well as watching people (their hands) doing repetitive tasks. Do any of you experience this? It would be purely visual ASMR.

ASMR Sounds by Sophie / Xcentricity Body Painting I'm very visual when it comes to my tingles! One of my favourite triggers is delicate and graceful hand movements. Accompany that with some soft, low whispering, and I'm sleepy within minutes.
@emiliawilson43789 жыл бұрын
Sound most definitely, when I was 10 or 11, I used to listen to world famous plays translated to my language, and there was this special play that had footstep sounds and clock ticking from time to time, and I was infatuated by it! I love whispering sounds as well the calm me down a lot, but when I told this to my brother back then, he made fun of me, I didn't know this was actually a thing till now from this video ^^ I also love the sound of people talking in large areas and coffee shops, the hustle and bustle. Also the sound of serving beverages in coffee shops. That's really beautiful, I think people who likes art appreciate it in it's every form, even in everyday sounds.

About 5 years ago was the time my art teacher showed us this video. She wanted to teach us how a relaxing environment can help us do art work. Out of the 25 kids in the class, Only a handful of us got the tingles and I feel very fortunate to be one of them. This video is the sole reason I started my ASMR journey through other channels. 5 years later, I'm obsessed with ASMR and still use it as a sleeping guide. I also wanted to say that if I werent introduced to this video, I would never have discovered ASMR in the first place and its unlimited opportunity to have a peaceful mind. For this reason, I'd like to thank you Sophie for all of your amazing work and effort! 💜

Well, good, I'm glad it had the right effect on you. If you know anything about ASMR, One of the reasons I make these videos is to help people with insomnia.

I started doing this doodle, and now people are calling me an artist😂 I keep telling them it's not original, but that insist on me studying to be an artist😂😂

Do consider yourself an artist. You cannot copy someone's art since every art piece is unique and original (:

+jesus santana actually, you can. its called interpretation. its new art is made. someone sees something in the world, they draw it, play it, paint it, write it. someone sees, hears, reads, feels their work. it inspires them. they draw, make, write, play, create something of their own. the cycle continues and occurs multiple times everywhere. that is the beauty of art.

+Linda Lind All of these doodle patterns have been around for hundreds of thousands of years and are all adapted and modified by the artists using them. I didn't uniquely design this pattern. It has been around for a very long time and it is also a mathematical design called a Pursuit Curve. See, I didn't make it up. I did adapt it to fit onto my page of drawing paper in a unique way. And when you draw it, it will look different as well. But this doesn't make or not make you an artist. Being an artist is about how you look at the world, process it and create from that place.
