Your recommendations have never failed me. I have completely fallen in love with Natalia Ginzburg this year and was also gifted Saggitarius for Christmas which I can't wait to read. I also have to thank you SO much for pointing me to Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan quartet. Simply stunning reads and she has fast become my favourite author. I recently bought Three Summers and it's next on my list. Already looking forward to your 2025 reads...thankyou! 😊

I'm so glad! Thanks for letting me know, this made my day 💜😊 If you liked the Neapolitan quartet, I really feel you'll love Three Summers. And Sagittarius, as you know, was a total treat for me, so I'm hopeful for you on that one too! Most of all, thanks for being here 🤗

Hi Mauve! I love hearing about your favorite books each year. You have excellent taste, my TBR just keep increasing. You talk about them so passionately it makes me want to read them. I started reading Having and Being Had on your recommendation and how engaging her writing felts since I'm not used to reading essays. It's also very interesting to learn about her thoughts as an American, she is very knowledgeable. I really like the book overall, but some parts are so vastly different from my reality that I could not say I loved it since there are very specific references to things I am unfamiliar with or cannot relate to. I'm so happy you read and loved Clarice Lispector's works! I'm obsessed with her, she is phenomenal. I even studied a book of hers in college in a kind of mentorship way with a professor specialized on her. I haven't read An apple in the dark yet! I need to get to it! Have a good week, Mauve 😊
@MauveASMR19 күн бұрын
Ooo which is your favorite of Lispector's? If you could only name one or two? / Which one did you study one-on-one? I'll definitely read it!! 💜
@Carol12510crb19 күн бұрын
@MauveASMR My favorite is the one I studied because it was the first one I read and the one I studied. It is considered one of her more mature works, it is called The Passion According to G.H. Another one is Agua Viva, it is very short, but excellent. I read just a little bit of it, but I got a copy to read in full as it is a very well loved one here. Besides her short stories, her chronicles are also very good as she captures life in her very unique way. In English, the collection seems to be called Too much of life.

Hi Mauve, as a fellow bookworm, I watch these with love, knowing you and I have slightly different taste in books - BUT one of my top reads of 2024 was a short book you once recommended, called 𝑊ℎ𝑜 𝑊𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑅𝑢𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐹𝑟𝑜𝑔 𝐻𝑜𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙, and I'm so so grateful to you for this rec, that I have one that's potentially up your alley: 𝑁𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑆𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑏𝑦 𝐶𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑃𝑟𝑎𝑠𝑖𝑓𝑘𝑎. About various twenty somethings navigating Dublin life in the present when something happens in the sky that rocks social media briefly, before people choose to ignore it, bringing up important climate change conversations in the process. It looks like it would be a shallow read from the cover but it's actually a hidden gem. And I think you would appreciate it 💜Feliz Navidad y Nuevo Año 📚✨(formerly spazzatura)

I know what you mean! Sometimes I watch other book videos with simple appreciation that we're all out here reading, even if we have different tastes 😊 So glad you liked Frog Hospital, which I really really love, and I am adding None of This is Serious to my list immediately! Thank you!! Feliz año nuevo a vos tambien! Besos 💜🌟

I look forward to this every year and love adding your recommendations to my TBR list for the next year! I have been slack on reading this year too, but I think the best book I've read is Giovanni's room by James Baldwin. Have you read it? I highly recommend if not!

Hei Mauve, thank you for sharing your books and your thoughts with us. Rachel Cusk is a huge favorite of mine, and Ali Smith is another one. Perhaps you have read something from her too?

I read Autumn around when it came out but didn't like it much. Still have How to Be Both on my list though! 💜 Anything I should definitely check out?

I knew Parade was going to make the list! That book! I’m fascinated by her writing even though I don’t connect with it.😂 I also loved The Details and I liked Sagittarius too. Thanks for those recs! I’m adding the others to my list. My favorites were Trust and also Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Oh, and I enjoyed this science-fantasy book called All The Birds In The Sky. Very cute and cool.
@MauveASMR22 күн бұрын
Haha yes I think the way you feel about Parade is the way I feel about Trust! I loved it and I'm also like -- I don't connect with it on a deeper level 😅 Glad you liked The Details and Sag! T&T&T I also really enjoyed, so we agree on that one as well! 💜
@aridassaASMR22 күн бұрын
@ I’ll continue reading Rachel cusk’s work cause her writing is so interesting. Second Place is definitely my favorite so far! But I do think about Parade from time to time. Look forward to your recs for 2025!

Love your book review videos. I totally passed out to this one. Eventually I was startled awake by an ad for the return of the McRib.
@MauveASMR22 күн бұрын
Oh no! Was it at the end of the video? I noticed this on one of my videos recently and was really disappointed in YT -- it didn't used to happen to me that YT would place ads at the end, but now they sometimes do, and there's no way for me to opt out of it (I can only opt out of mid-rolls) ☹️
@JStrong8520 күн бұрын
@@MauveASMRyes at the end. It's all good though. I fell asleep on the couch and the ad prompted me to crawl into bed with the wife. The McRib may have helped save my marriage 😂
