34:40 "Is like I start dreaming by I'm not asleep yet" I never heard someone else explain it that way, I've been getting this for many years now. I can feel my brain generating random thoughts and stories. Sometimes I get that when I wake up without enough sleep, I can spend a few minutes while my brain is still dreaming, I can almost control what random stuff get generated, like lucid dreaming but half-awake 😅

Yes, it's like my brain generates random stories too! I was filming until 4am last night and was absolutely shattered by the time I went to bed and as I was drifting off, I was aware of my brain shifting to this imaginative state. I've only ever had lucid dreams a few times but I'd love to learn to control it more.

@@ASMRShortbread I've only had real lucid dreams when I was very young (I tried to convince people in the dream that we're in a dream 😂). In this half-sleep/half-wake state, it feels more like gently guiding the random thoughts. The example that comes to mind, a few times I woke up then almost slept again but I got in this weird state, I half-dream that I'm scrolling through social media (something I usually do to help wake up), but I kind of control what kind of random stuff I see in the newsfeed.

Been watching asmr videos to help with the classical problem of not being able to fall tf asleep. Found this gem yesterday while scrolling when I was already watching another asmr creator, decided to give it a shot, AND BOY, WHEN I TELL YOU THAT I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO THE TEN MINUTE MARK. 32:50 Those flashbacks aren't as random as one might think. In my experience, they happen because the brain connected something from now with something then. Usually, it's a subconscious connection, and it's often pretty tenuous, but the connection is there, nonetheless.

My grandmother is from Ayershire (even had to walk across the Brig o Doon and pass the Auld Kirk on her way to school) and my mother got to live there for a year in middle school. Me? I was born in the US at the beginning of the biggest economic slump since the great depression, and thus have never had the chance to go. Anyway, thanks for the tingles 😊
