Halloween II is a 1981 American slasher film directed by Rick Rosenthal, in his directorial debut, written and produced by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, and starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence who reprise their respective roles as Laurie Strode and Dr. Sam Loomis. It is the second installment in the Halloween film series and is a continuation sequel to Halloween (1978). The plot picks up directly after the cliffhanger ending of the first film, with Michael Myers following survivor Laurie Strode to the local hospital, while his psychiatrist Dr. Loomis continues his pursuit of him.

I first saw Halloween 2 a month or so ago. I was on my mission to watch through the Halloween series for the first time, not counting the Rob Zombie remakes, all in preparation for Halloween Ends... Halloween 2 was OK. The kills were decent, but I could tell John Carpenter was stretching for material on a movie he had little interest in. My big issues were: 1. The extreme shoehorning of "Laurie and Michael are siblings". It's in one short scene with Loomis, and a few vague dreams with Laurie. That's all. It's practically an afterthought. 2. That hospital was waaaaaaaay too quiet, even for a normal night. It's an active hospital with patients, and yet it just looks abandoned most of the time. 3. Very little actually happens in the story. Laurie's in a bed for 90% of the movie, Michael kills a few people, Loomis chases him. That's about it. I remember rewatching Halloween Kills just before Ends, and my thoughts were "This is exactly what H2 should've been..." So yeah, not a bad movie, just unnecessary. If you just want to see Michael kill people, yeah, it'll work. If you're expecting the story to get advanced, you'll be disappointed.

It's pretty much an extension of the first. Yeah the Laurie, Michael sibling thing was a bit of ab afterthought. I think they were trying to capitalize off of the Empire Strikes Back shock twist.
