Love the idea of writing your name with the city and year. Imagine years from now, someone finds the book and takes a glipse at when it was first read. Its kind of a lovely thought leaving that memory.

Totally! It's a time warp for me, too, imagining the book in my hands x years ago, in a city I've long since left 💜

I love how considered and intentional your actions are. It's very relaxing listening to the process of book annotating. ❤

I’m not really much of an annotation person in books, but I love hearing about the thought process behind it! I also absolutely loved the sound of you fingerpad tapping on your friend’s bookmark/textured drawing - would love a full video of similar tapping and sounds 🥰

Yaaay, it's Mauve Monday! I'm not really into annotating, but this was fascinating, and also, so relaxing. Thank you for the video!

I just love your book videos so much. I wish I annotated my books, it seems like such a thoughtful way to consume a story. Maybe someday I’ll get less lazy. 😂

Thank you so much! I'll also say, sometimes it's nice to sit down with a book I've decided not to annotate, because it's usually a more relaxed reading experience 💜

It was really amusing to hear there is someone else out there in the world who annotates the books in a very similar way. I thought I was one of a few people who like their books neat and to be treated with respect😊

Good evening Mauve. Yes, I do annotate my books. I use post it’s. But very neatly and thoughtfully. I also write the page it belongs to on the post it in the event it should fall out. Also, no one and I mean no one gets to borrow my books. I love and cherish them too much. I do keep notes on who has asked to borrow what book and gift that book to them for bdays or Christmas. Have a wonderful evening sweet girl.

"No one and I mean no one gets to borrow my books" -- lol YES I wholeheartedly support this! 💜

Have you ever considered tabbing your books? Also do you annotate differently depending on the genre? For example I'm a huge fantasy reader so I'm always underlining or noting the world building.
@MauveASMR Жыл бұрын
I've tabbed my books once or twice in cases where I wanted to annotate but then remove the annotations, if that makes sense. But pulling out a book from my shelf that has tabs sticking out the side annoys me, on a sensory level, so I don't tend to :)

I just finished second place coincidentally! dropping some big lore here... Getting the pen involved that often seems bold af. I'm pretty ambivalent about book annotating, I think if I picked up an annotated copy of something I'd get way too preoccupied with the meta of the person and their thoughts! But on the other hand it does seem a great idea for keepers, to record all those thoughts as you go so they're not lost to the aether..

Agreed! I only annotate books I know I'm going to keep. I don't like reading other people's annotated copies, unless they're from a close friend, maybe. The few times I read books annotated by my best friend, it WAS interesting to see what she had marked up -- almost none of the lines coincided with what I would have underlined, even though we're pretty similar people

Holy huge Virgo Energy!! 😂 You got me out here feeling sorry for my books with their bent spines and doctor-like scribbles 😅 Also, so intrigued by the Ontology of the Accident... Thank you for sharing!! 💛✨

Haha I'm sure your books are beautifully well-loved! Also YES I actually think you would really like Ontology of the Accident, especially given all your knowledge on and experience with black mold 💜💜💜

more book videos! I’ve only annotated one book, “Hyperion”, by Dan Simmons. Epic sci-fi, highly recommended. Better than “Dune”, imo, which is saying a lot cause Dune is great. I’m currently reading “The Bell Jar” by Sylvia Plath. It’s very good.

Hyperion -- such a good title! I'm working my way through the Southern Reach

I also write my name in the same place your friend does for books I own. And at the moment I am backpacking Latin America and have been writing in the back cover which country/ies i read it in before leaving it in the hostel book swap. I hope that other people see what I did and add to it when they finish but they probably don’t 😂

Ah I love that! I'm sure people do see it, or at least the ones who'd be interested in it in the first place! 💜

Younger me lent one of my favorite books to someone I was dating casually and of course it never came back 🤦🏼 so I’m cautious as well now (with maturity came caution)

I hear you!! I've lost two books like that, and another one came back to me with severely bent/crumpled pages and I was like... okay, noted 😅

That’s one thing I hate about reading on my kindle is not being about to annotate but I do intend on keeping a reading journal although I’ve been saying that for years 😂
