This is wonderful to know! How ironic my mom was an expert shirt ironer as a young girl her mom my grandma told me that she took over ironing her dads white work shirts because she did not think grandma did a good enough job. Soon she was ironing all the shirts for the businessmen in the neighborhood and making good money. She did a beautiful job of it for my dad and she would iron the shirts I would make for my husband and other garments I made as a finishing touch. I would iron and press open seams as I sew but never really had a real lesson in ironing a whole shirt. Now I know. My mom pressed all the shirts and I did the table clothes, napkins and pillowcases and also hankerchiefs.

I learned to do the yoke and shoulders before the sleeves. To each their own!

There's no one way to do it! As long as it looks nice and pressed and you're feeling confident.

Great info. If someone in this house wants a shirt ironed, they can do it themselves, though. I’m not the maid.
