It's color theory so it's kind of subjective but they're going off of skin tone and hair mostly. Notice how she kept telling her to avoid cool desaturated colors because it would bring out bags under her eyes. Everybody has an undertone in their skin usually orange pink yellow blue or purple, the color analyst is trying to keep you from looking washed out or sickly by choosing colors to bring out the natural color of your face

I like to look at their acne scars or the color on their under eyes, if they stick out more then that color is most likely not for them, if their lips seem very pale with a certain color then it washes them out also not for them. Hope this helps a little
