EDIT: Lobotomy was usually made through eyes, but before that it was done that doctor drill 2 holes on each side of a skull, and he use ice pick to sever brain connections or injected alcohol into the prefrontal lobe to destroy it.
It was called leucotomy back than, and after that it started to be done through the eye socket, because it was much quicker.

Their excuses were along the lines of "where I am in Africa it's still done because it can be less expensive than meds, and parents will do it so they can send their other kids to school", tacitly endorsing child abuse as well. The depths of that discussion could be highly complex, asking about the west's role in making any of that excuse possible, necessary, whatever word you may way to use, as none of that happens in isolation of the colonized history of the continent, but one does NOT have to start in the "lobotomy is okay because it's a cheaper choice" camp to start going deeper. No accusations you endorse it. The person was so passively cruel without examining any aspect of what they said it is stuck in an echoey crevice in my mind. I swear the cesspool underbelly of the internet is starting to pop up to the surface now a days, so so so much uncensored or horrific content (and the cruelest comments being written as well) being posted with no way of reporting it because most social media says it’s “not offensive”. My personal theory is that it’s because the people who push this idea of younger people being “sensitive” and just wanting to “joke around like the old days” along with anonymity from being behind a blank pfp decide to run around and act crazy online with no repercussions. And those same guys are running all of these social medias. I don’t doubt that tht video you saw was posted, and that it wasn’t censored at all for while. Leo the Lemon was a happy lemon until The Great Lemonade Stand incident of 1972. Leo is the only surviving member of his family as the rest were used to create lemonade that was, actually, quite delicious. This sent Leo into a great depression and over the years used medication to manage it. He eventually developed a schizophrenic alter ego where he thought he was a peach. As these fruits are quite opposite of each other this was greatly affecting his marriage with his wife Lucy.
