Such a terrific explanation of these math principles. I was listening as an ASMR vid (very good for that), but I woke myself up to backtrack and acquire the knowledge. In 18 years of school, I only had one good math teacher in 7th grade. Wish you'd been around as an instructor. Well, it's never too late. I'll look at your other stuff now. And on another note, this video gave me an idea for a character in the novel I'm working on now. So thanks on many levels!

Old subscriber here. You sir taught me more math than most of my former school teachers. That video you made a while ago in which you described the basic pattern systems, multiplications, coupled with videos like this which demonstrate that math is all about finding patters and "expressing" them via equasions, for the sake of results, opened my eyes how harmful public education is. Brilliant, brilliant. God bless, much harmony and many long years of teaching!
@chycho7 жыл бұрын
Thank you, brother (or sister). Glad to be of service, and thank you for the kind words. I do agree, our education system is horrendous and is doing a tremendous amount of damage to our society. Here is hoping that collectively we'll be able to build alternatives to what we have, we need it. Lots of love and peace from Canada :)

Thanks, Stu, and sorry about the last section, the factorials, since it wasn't to clear. I hadn't planned on covering that method yet but decided to do it during the shoot, at the last minute - just had too :) At some point I'll definitely be covering factorial in way more detail though, so stay turned :))
@bear_loves_coffee78177 жыл бұрын
No need to apologise my friend. It was definitely more to do with me not understanding it straight away than you not making it clear. I'll look forward to that video. You really make maths interesting. I have no doubt that if I had a teacher like you when I was in my teens I would of had a lot more interest in maths and ultimately done a lot better than I did. I find it interesting and scary to think about how successful someone can/could of been in a subject if they had the right teacher or had something explained to them a certain way. Stu.
@chycho7 жыл бұрын
I agree, Stu. In my humble opinion, our education system is horrendous. I've had so many kids come my way that thought math was some kind of magic. When they learn how it works and start to excel in it, it opens up so many doors for the future. Hopefully with time we'll dig ourselves out of this pit that we've been forcing so many generations into.

You should give sage a try if you haven't done so; just add green leaves of it to a mug of Black tea, cover it with a saucer for 5-10 minutes, and then remove them. Make sure that you increase your sugar portion a little bit since sage has a real bitter taste.

For sure I use sage as well, not one of my top 5 but it's there, and yup, depending on the sage, it can be extremely bitter, which is not a bad thing. Very good for detoxing.

I'm not sure if u got my comment before but i recently got tasked in my maths class with formula! like changing farenheit into Celsius. I'm struggling. could you maybe include it in an upcoming video? your teaching is really great!!
@chycho7 жыл бұрын
No, I don't think I saw your last comment. I'll see what I can do to put together a video, not sure when this will be though. That said, it would basically be a summary of what I covered in the Language of Math videos, Series IIIa, Videos #64, 65, 67, 68, and 69. You can find them here: chycho.blogspot.ca/2010/01/language-of-mathematics-table-of.html#IIIa: Solving equations is crazy important and I do go into some detail in those videos.... that was a while ago though so it would be nice to do a little recap.... hmmm :) That said, for converting Fahrenheit to Celsius, all you need is this equation: C = (F-32)(5/9) Just plug in what your temp is in Fahrenheit and do the algebra. For example, let's say you wanted to find out what 80 F was is C. the you have C=(80-32)(5/9)= 26.67 degrees C. Hope that helps.

chycho spoken like a true teacher!!! I'm amazed at your abilities for both maths AND English. in my class tonight we did percentages. Easy right? i failed half the practise questions. haha I'm still trying.
@chycho7 жыл бұрын
As long as you're learning, which comes through trying, you're heading in the right direction. I'll give you a personal example. You say that you are "amazed" at my abilities to communicate in the English language (written). First, thank you. Second, I can't even begin to tell you how hard I worked on improving my abilities in this. I went to summer school in grade 8 for English. Got 50% in 9 and 10. Had an amazing teacher in grade 11 and 12 which helped my mark, but not my abilities. I failed my first year English class at University, very badly. I struggled with English all the way to my mid thirties. That's when I realized I needed to do better, much better. It took me a good 5 years of self learning and help from some friends to be able to write a proper essay. Really! I would wake up in the middle of the night dreaming about words and sentences. The short of it is this, if I can learn English well enough to "amaze", then we can do anything if we want. Let me know if I can help, I'm already thinking about your video request and how to present the info, I'll try and make it happen, no promises though, but for sure check out the videos I mentioned in my previous comment about the equal sign. They should help.

@chycho7 жыл бұрын
Oh my, very sensitive topic. There are a few things I've done over the years and a few words I've taken to heart to be able to deal with anxiety when it hits. For me it was a step wise process, slowly breaking the things down until I've pretty much gotten rid of it all together - it's rare for me now. One advice that i really took to heart was from Robert Anton Wilson, it was along the lines of: "The universe is indifferent, it’s not out to get you, and if it is, there isn’t a hell of a lot you can do about it anyway, so take it easy."... Other than that, I decided to pick my battles, so I picked some big ones and let the little ones slip away. I'll think about the video though, who knows, maybe something will play out.
