This is a different one for me... a kind of blog, life update type video.
In this video, I take you (in a very disorganised way) through my past 3.5 months working as an FY1 Doctor in the NHS (The UK's healthcare service).
I hope you'll enjoy this!

You’re putting too much pressure to yourself. I’m aware being a doctor is extremely a lot of work and overwhelming but then again you accomplished a dream that you’ve always wanted as a kid. I say that’s an awesome accomplishment! Don’t beat yourself up. You are good enough at what you do whether you think so or not. Despite the responsibilities you’re still learning and that’s okay. Eventually you’ll get the hang of it and you’ll start to feel a bit more confident. Also, you should post more videos like these, if it’s something that truly helps your mental health then go for it.

Just know that what you feel is extremely valid and it’s okay to vent when feeling some type of way. It’s always nice to talk about it or let it out. Remember mental health is important.

@@itsElly_ I honestly could not agree more. Putting ones mental (and physical) health before work is absolutely, always the best choice

@@TheASMRMedic Exactly! Mental health should always be prioritized. If you have anyone who you are really close to and can trust definitely confide in them when you feel overwhelmed.

What you said about impostor syndrome really struck a chord with me ngl, I’ve been in architecture school for over a year now and I still have troubles with it, I’ll catch myself looking at and comparing myself to my peers work, and getting down on myself. Ig it’s good to know that I’m not the only one feeling like this

“Comparison is the thief of joy” as they say. It’s a quote I try to remind myself of quite literally on a daily basis. I compare myself to my colleagues all the time, especially in those particularly fragile moments. I feel a bit unsure of myself and then I look over a interpret what they’re doing as them being totally amazing and in control, and I make myself feel crap! It’s a trap that’s so hard to not fall into. But it’s natural, and all we can do is remind ourselves of how unhealthy a though process it is. As long as you recognise your weaknesses and work on them, that’s all that matters. And something I heard someone say was that we should be comparing ourselves and our progress only from how we’ve grown from yesterday, not looking way into the future to what we want to be.

I thinks it’s your potential speaking to you that you could be better, or that if someone else can do it then you can too. Let it motivate you rather than labelling it as just a syndrome

I’ve been watching your videos since I was in undergrad and I’m now a second year medical student. It’s crazy how you’re now a doctor and I’m now where you were years ago when I looked up to you (and still do). Anyways I can totally empathize with how you’re feeling even though I’m still a student (especially the lunch part haha). But like you said I try to find the meaning of why I’m doing this. I hope and I’m sure that you’ll only feel more comfortable as you learn and experience more. Thanks for sharing!
