lapis is a mineral for enchantment, to enchant something (armor, sword, axe) you need lapis and levels (green and yellow particle that you get when you kill a monster) obviously you also must to have an enchantment table.

When you go to the nether make sure you have one piece of gold armor so piglins won’t attack you. Also u can Trade with piglins by throwing gold ingots at them. Keep up the grind🖤

Btw, to get max lvl enchantments you need to place 15 bookshelves around the enchantment table, and to make the bookshelf’s in the first place you need to make a lot of books so you can make a sugar cane farm to make paper which therefore crafts into books then the books are used to make all those bookshelves 👍🏽

in Java Edition axes do more damage but in the edition you're playing (Bedrock Edition), axes are not as powerful btw

sorry for typing a million comments i swear this is the last one lol anyways efficency and fortune are good to have on the pickaxe Efficency makes you mine stuff faster and Fortune increases ore drops (example: when mining diamond ore there's a chance you get more than 1 diamond) Also probably better to enchant the diamond pickaxe, and sorrunding the enchanting table with bookshelves gives better enchants

An axe only does more damage in Java for non crit hits and in bedrock sword does more than a axe no crit hit but if the axe has smite the enchantment it will do more damage when you crit hit
