I've seen/heard a lot of these "rain w/ _____ scene" videos, but what I particularly like about this one is that the wind, rain, and crackling fireplace don't all sound like one cacophony of noise in the exact same spot. The sound of the rain storm clearly outside and on the window as opposed to the fire which is louder and more clearly heard is brilliant. I love that I can hear the storm, but that it's "outside" where it belongs and that, for some reason puts me out like a light every time.

I agree. I've listened to a lot rain sound videos but something about this one makes me feel the same way as when I look up at a grey overcast day. The room depicted is beautiful and the movement and glow of the candles and fire are so calming. The audio balance of all the sounds is in harmony. The rumble and bass of the thunder gives me chills.

I really do like how the rain isn’t the same two or three minutes of audio and has a variety of different sounds. Like how it may be pelting on the window one minute then become a more gentle patter on the roof the next. Very soothing. 10/10 would recommend. ☺️💜💜

I just love how the rain isn’t loud and overpowering as if the person who recorded the rain placed the mic leaning into the window. This rain is more distant and natural sounding which is why this is one of my fav.

Most people are afraid of thunder and lightning, but not you. You take comfort in seeing an occasional flash that illuminates the room around you. Cozy and snug in your house, you flip to the next page of the book you are reading. The fireplace in front of you doesn't give much light, but it provides warmth, and that's even better. You take a sip of your hot tea and pull the blanket up to your chin. Nothing gets better than this.

After days of traveling, you’ve finally made it to the next town. The weather grows dark and before long; rainfall. You rush yourself to the nearest inn. A three story stone building, finely made. “This must be one of the better inns in town”, you think to yourself. You enter the establishment, only a few patrons are around. Some drinking, a few having meals and a couple playing a silent game of cards. An innkeeper is standing behind the bar cleaning one of the tankards while a barmaid is busy sweeping the floor. You approach the innkeeper. “Well hello traveller! What brings you to our lovely inn this cold stormy night?” He smiles. You explain your journey thus far, and he nods in silent agreement. “I see. Adventurer eh? Yes we see your type pass by often enough. Usually looking for work.” He scratches his short grey beard. “Well, I don’t have any quest for you sorry to say! We do have food though and drinks! And beds if you need them!” He gives you a friendly smirk. “All at affordable prices, I assure you!” You tell him that sounds like exactly what you needed after days on the road, sleeping on dirt floors and eating nothing but rations. His smile widens, “Coming right up! The food and drink will total you 3 silver, the room is a silver per night.” You pass him the coin and he vanishes to the kitchen behind him. Returning shortly with a bowl of hot stew, some bread, cheese and ham. He places them before you and puts a large tankard of mead next to them. “Enjoy!” He says, “Oh and before I forget, here’s the key to your room upstairs. Second floor; last door at end of the hallway, I have one of the barmaids ready it for you.” As he proceeds away from you to wipe down the bar. After finishing your meal, you make your way upstairs. Going to the last door, you find a medium size room with a fireplace, a wardrobe, two chairs and a single bed. The room is lit by several candles and mildly decorated with paintings of the local landscape. You remove your armor and change to a set of pyjamas found in the wardrobe. They’re a little big but still comfortable enough. You lie down on the bed, the fireplace has already been lit. The sounds of rain still heavy as you see the droplets cascade down the glass window. The combination of sounds slowly burden your eyelids as they flutter and soon after; darkness.

This isn't animation, but it is a fairly frequent looping which is why we don't see the candles melting down... but if they are frozen first and then put in a cold room, where there is almost no breeze at all, so they burn straight upward, they melt very slowly... depending in their composition, of course. Tbh I've had enough feeling unsafe in my life - living in survival mode is not something to aspire to.

@@Your-Least-Favorite-Stranger that is not the same thing as taking risks. That you think trying a new restaurant is risk taking speaks to that. I'm not judging, I struggle with this too, and pointing out that taking risks only occurs when we are okay not being safe and comfortable all the time. That's difficult for those of us who have spent large parts of our childhood feeling unsafe. I'm mearly reinforcing that was just as unhealthy as living your life never putting yourself out there because you've equated all risk taking as dangerous/"you are unsafe". I know because I'm living it too and trying to fix it.

I've favourited a lot of these sleeping sounds, but I have to say I come back to this one often. It's hard to find a video where the rain sounds like rain, the thunder isn't constant and sounds like there's no roof on the room, and the fireplace isn't drowned out or insanely loud. You captured all three. Well done. :)

i had a dream once that i was looking out of the window of a cabin, rain and snow coming down hard. in the light of the moon, the shadows fell over me as i sat on the carpeted floor. i dont live somewhere where it snows, so i had been up that night to watch it fall. my roommate came over to give me a blanket and asked me what i was doing. i told him i was enjoying it before the charm and wonder wore off. right now, the future feels hopeless. i had wanted to do so much but it feels like im not even allowed to dream anymore. ive listened to this video for about a year now, mostly when im writing. ever since that dream, listening to this brings me closer to that cabin in my dreams, and the future doesnt seem so dark. to everyone who feels hopeless, feels alone, feels scared or empty or numb, this wont last forever. find the little things that help remind you that this tunnel has an end. keep dreaming.

Since this video reminds me of certain great moments of my life, I'm going to rant on the comments because why not. So I'm French and in October - November I went to the United States in a host family. It was at the edge of a forest, they had 2 dogs, it was mostly cold outside. I had a fireplace in my comfy room : the room was light beige and I had on awesome bed that was so good to relax in. I could play with the doggos, hearing the rain outside and being near to a fireplace myself. I miss that, and I also miss my host family because they were great people that gave me some great time, they were so loving and caring it was heartwarming. There was also a time I went to Scotland, up the Highlands... I am going to miss those hills and lakes and clouds and trees and Scottish rought accent for the rest of my life. Those times spent looking at the misty hills were probably some of my best memories, hearing the rain coming down the lake and being just near nature... Not a single day passes without me thinking of it.

It’s gotten me through countless essays, finals/studying bgm, working on my writing, sleep, you name it. The ambience as well as the sound itself.. there’s just something so beautiful and magical and so.. comforting about it all. The visage looks so cozy and the combination of the pattering rain and fire crackling is just mesmerizing. Thank you so much for this wonderful video, and I hope everyone watching/reading has an amazing day (or night)! 💕✨ Whatever the reason for your presence, we’ve all gathered upon this one video, and that’s pretty neat to me! All of this gives me a strange yet beautiful feeling, like you can see humanity's very core and it's a warm shining light that has been there for longer than we can imagine. It makes me think of our ancestors, sitting around a fire in a cave, the thunderstorm raging outside and yet the fire is crackling as always and you just know that it will be well, because deep down, humanity is good, connected by little things like rainstorms and a crackling fire. It's incredible to see how we take refugee in things like fire and storms, that used to scare us. But still we are connected, and when you close your eyes and relax, can you feel the warmth of everyone else that has listened to this? Can you feel the love I am sending your way through this message? Whoever you are out there.

Rolling thunderstorms and a good crackling fire going. Fresh wood burning is one of the best smells ever. Definitely my two favorite things besides night time and a good autumn day with fall colors on all the trees. You can never get sick of the simple things that just make you feel at peace..

I've always loved these kinds of homes, with a fireplace and some thunder and rain for a bonus. Thank you for this!

What do you mean, exactly? I just mean I'm currently reading Frankenstein by Shelley and wish I had a room like this in which to read it. In fact, I wish I had a room like this to read any book...
