I've honestly always wondered why you do that tapping down around the ends with your nails. I figured it was just for the sound alone, but knowing that your mom did that when you were young is so cute. My mother would run her hands down my hair and kinda of twirl it at the ends. I feel like that's why this asmr hits so well for me. It's like integrated in my brain when i was a kid lol.
