This made me feel real nostalgic. Pokemon cards were also banned in my school when I was younger 😅😂 love that you were able to enjoy this with your inner child; my roommate and I will occasionally buy stuffed animals to connect with our inner child 😊 also my party trick is I can recite the alphabet backwards without having to think about it at all 😂 I taught myself in 5th grade (so like 15 years ago jeez😳) Also, just a sidenote, you were right in the beginning there with the ablaut reduplication, it absolutely has to do with the vowel placement! It works in order of where the vowel sound happens in your mouth when you say the words aloud, not necessarily alphabetically. So with “pitter patter”, the short -i sound is at the front of your mouth and the short -a sound is slightly further back!

I had a very long and tiring day. Started a new job about a month and a half ago working at Costa, and whilst I do enjoy it it can be really knackering, so this was a lovely wind down. Thank you so much man ❤️ Edit: yes Pokémon have gender! Most can be male and female, but there are a fair few who are strictly one or the other (e.g Gallade can only be male, Tsareena can only be female). And there are some genderless Pokémon, typically ones based on objects like Magnemite and its evolutions, as well as most legendary and mythical Pokémon.

Definitely got secondhand nostalgia goosebumps with that Moltres pull! To answer your questions, there are genders in Pokémon, and even gender dimorphism between certain species. Pikachu’s tail might be one you remember, since you’re familiar with gen one. Unfezant and Pyroar are also pretty noticeable differences. Most pokemon do have gender and some even have gender differences, tho I dont think the cards ever show the gender. Some pokemon are genderless tho like legendaries, mythicals and some non-biological pokemon like ditto, magnemite, Porygon etc
