Didn't realize how helpful flash cards are! Made letters very easy to remember! Went ahead and ordered the hiragana and katakana flash cards with your code 👍

I love how the usual advice on learning japanese goes: First, you learn hiragana, it's simple, see? The へ looks like a snake, or "HEbi" in japanese. -Cool! Then, you move to katakana which might be a little confusing with hiragana sometimes, but you should be fine! -Nice! ... -What now? Oh, you now move onto kanji, *may God have mercy on your soul!* Good luck~!

I've heard multiple Japanese people who say they have trouble with kanji, even. Makes you think they need to re-work their language...
@redredc22 жыл бұрын
@@blossom357 When you think about it this way, I’ll bet you wouldn’t know what “Back-channeling” or “Anastrophe” means without having to use a dictionary, unless you’re really into linguistics. And nobody knows how to pronounce “Worcestershire sauce.” Just because you come across a word that you don’t understand, doesn’t mean that the system is flawed. It just means that there are gaps in your knowledge that you don’t realize are there, until it’s right in front of you. I’ve been studying Japanese for a little over 2 years, and I can understand far more kanji than not, even without using a dictionary. It just takes time and discipline.

I understand the concept of kanji well, they're entire words or meanings, just in a single character. It's just that learning enough to read fluently, and learning each individual reading for them, takes a lot of effort.

@@blossom357 I don’t think a language needs to make perfect sense and be simple. There’s beauty in the complexity of language. Additionally, English is full of nonsense as well, things which are difficult and could be changed but aren’t. Think about all the irregular verbs
I think out of every Japanese lesson I've had this is the most relaxing and cute one yet.

Finished the video now, this was also the funniest Japanese lesson I've had! And at this point I'd like to start a petition for Katie to become everyone's Japanese teacher by making this a series.
The illustrations aren't the only thing that's cute. Thank you for such a great video and education

Wow the part where you are not sure about the translation of miso and you slowly say “soy..bean… paste” with an uncertain face… somehow gave me the best tingles ever! Your vids are the best!!!! I love them.
