Here are some fun facts and notes anyome watching might be interested in, from a romanian person Apuseni somwhat translates to sunset-y, and the apuseni mountains are called that because they are the western-most mountains, aka where the sun sets Us romanians pronounce it Valahia :) Transilvania and Moldova are more commonly used for people when describing themselves, but think of it like the example you gave with nocal and socal, we don't say i'm from wallachia, we use the smaller regions (ardeal, muntenia etc.) To better learn romanian pronounciation you need to learn the set pronounciation for every letter, since in romanian pronounciation doesn't fluctuate like in english (e.g. i is always pronounced ee, as in sleep, never like in sigh) romanian history is indeed pretty hard and a headache for many students, especially the middle ages part Dracula came from dracul like you said, and dracul means devil. Vlad Țepeş (pronounced tzepesh) translates a little differently than Vlad the Impaler, țepeş comes from țeapă which means stake (like the thing you impale people with) The soviet architectural style you were talking about is called brutalism

As a kid I used to dream about bulding castles all over the country, looking at maps and finding areas i could build arouns romania, i loved the geography for some reason. Now as an architect I do the same but with cities. I dream about making eforie a city that can compete with contsanta! I dream about making Mamaia the paradise its meant to be. And hell, im getting there, i hope haha. This video is the most perfect video i could have asked for, thank you!

Thanks for the video!!❤ also a bit of insight on the healthcare protests, I suspect the book is a bit old due to the fact that the protests were held around 2015-2016, when the “Colectiv” tragedy happened. The healthcare system around this time (and kind of all the way up to 2016) was very underfunded outside of Bucharest, as the country was still “recovering” from the 2008 financial crash and the situation wouldn’t change until right around 2014. Things got much better pretty quick in the following years especially around the time of the pandemic when salaries rose a lot (and I mean A LOT) in healthcare. There’s still work to do but what was does feel like a world away at this point.
