The Bowie knife was specifically modified for fighting people. The brass guard on the handle is so when you block, the opponents blade gets caught in the brass and you can either disarm them with it, or slash with it. The back of the blade is used for parrying, and the blade is so long and huge, it creates a pretty difficult wound to fix and heal. Some of them are so long in fact, you can legitimately stab someone completely through.

As a collector myself, keep in mind that a dull blade is much more dangerous than a sharp one. A dull blade requires a lot more force and is much more likely to slip and cause an accident. Keep your blade sharp. Also a blade can be repaired after the tip breaks. It just takes a bit more effort that most people don't want to put in or don't know how.

well, as he said he doesnt use it. a dull blade is considered more dangerous because its easier to injure yourself when using the knife, but if its just decoration its safer off dull.

Nice collection. I especially like your Kershaw's. I have an older one my Grandfather gave me and it's my everyday go-to knife. As a college student buying a new Kershaw is a bit too pricy for me, but they definitely last if you take care of them.
