Not to be rude, but this is insanely helpful as someone working on a videogame who's sampling sounds for switches and buttons. The ASMR community has become my go-to for foley ideas, or for sounds if equipment is expensive to get hold of. Thank-you. Also as someone who wants to buy sticks, some how this tells me way more about them than any normal review.

This is unironically quite good, as someone who has enjoyed your content for quite a while as well as who occasionally listens to ASMR. Also for me it's a great demonstration of how sounds can be deceiving when it comes to feel- the X-56 sounds fantastic and I had to check my own and with a little coaxing yep it sounds pretty similar to yours without my usual headphones on, but man it does not *feel* nearly as good as it sounds.
@RedKiteRender2 жыл бұрын
Worst bit is as my X-55 has aged the rubberised handles have become sticky and magnets for dirt, the switch tops have lost their silver paint too! I retired it after the rudder twist failed, but the thumb button is busted too and the hats have gotten mushy. The X-56 was it's replacement to solve most of the quality control issues this one had.
@startrekmike2 жыл бұрын
This really gets into a interesting issue. When you watch some flight sim peripheral videos, there is deliberate focus put on the sounds of the switches as if that actually tells us anything meaningful about the quality. Sadly, the whole charade seems to work as many respond obediently to it.
@Deltarious2 жыл бұрын
@@RedKiteRender Ah yeah I forgot about that, I did know it was the 'older' version but I forgot they incremented the number from 55 to 56 too. I will say my 56 has held up okay, I still think to this day it is overpriced, but I have had mine for something like 7 years now and it has only just now developed any fault- the brake bar pops off the side and needs some fixing. There has always been a fair amount of mush on a few of the buttons and a reasonable amount of play in the centre stick position on my 56 requiring deadzones, but it has not deteriorated much if at all which is nice, and despite torrid abuse the twist stick works fine still right now. Still I've been really wanting to upgrade after maybe a few months of using the thing, it's just never been high enough priority to bit the bullet.
@RedKiteRender2 жыл бұрын
Sound and sight are the only things you can experience (mostly) like the reviewer, the former is often forgotten (talked over), so people trend towards wanting to hear it. Sound does do a reasonable job of portraying quality a lot of the time, but reality is for toggle switches, it's just how stiff a metal spring is inside the assembly, not exactly a measure of quality. Actual quality is very hard to measure, feel helps, but it might take months or years to fully realise, not practical for a typical review. It's part of what makes buying a new product a risk, i bought the X-55 after mostly good reviews, but then it picked up a reputation for falling apart, and within the year mine had issues!

@@RedKiteRender Q is the 17th letter of the English Latin alphabet. A statistically naturally improbable occurrence of 17 in news articles is supposed to be a proof that patriots are in control. Of course, Confirmation Bias has to be eliminated first. And yet, much of what was first revealed in the Q stuff has now come to be known by the public, so the Q hypothesis cannot yet be falsified.
