@@carsoogie Exactly this. As someone who's thought about delving into that type of content (video essays) there are definitely topics that could work. Someone giving their thoughts on a book or author, music, and shows are all potential topics. To use hbomberguy as an example (sorry not sorry), most of his Measured Responses couldn't be ASMR. Obviously, they are heavy subjects associated with strong feelings. But his Deus Ex video? New Vegas? These could exist through an ASMR lens. Not for him to do specifically, his specific tone just might not generally translate in that sense, but I hope this at least conveys how there is room for overlap in the subject matter for these genres

The French Whisperer is the only channel I think comes close to the commentary asmr thing. He does lots of interesting lectures and sometimes immersive style “journey” lectures about a bunch of things mostly history & mythology related, but I would love to see that kind of content from more people on more topics! Lectures I can acceptably listen & fall asleep to but still find interesting!

A lot of professionals use phone cameras as a photographic or recording device. You just need how to change the settings. Plus it’s easier to setup a phone camera rather than a professional one.

It’s an iPhone 15 Pro Max! Front camera, which is wild to me. Messed with the settings for low light and fps. BUT I think lighting plays a major role in the quality of a video, definitely a key component regardless of camera
